Members of the Microsoft 365 Insider program using OneNote for Windows can now access two new digital pen options: the Fountain Pen, which allows for thinner lines and detailed lettering, and the Brush Pen, designed for creating artistic letters with adaptive stroke thickness. These features can be accessed via the Draw tab or the Add Pen button in OneNote. Users must update their app to Windows Version 2408 (Build 18011.20000) or later to use these enhancements. Additionally, Microsoft has updated the pen icons for a refreshed look and introduced an interactive ink tutorial and a feature for the Copilot AI assistant to analyze handwritten notes.

Android is introducing a new "Notes" feature with the upcoming Android 14 and Android 15 updates, allowing users to take notes directly from the lock screen. Microsoft OneNote is preparing to support this feature, as indicated by references in its beta version (v16.0.17928.20054). Users will be able to set OneNote as the "Default Notes App," receive notifications for necessary permissions, and access a shortcut in settings for lock screen note-taking. Google Keep is also working on similar functionality, but its rollout timeline is not yet clear.
