Vampire: The Masquerade has a significant narrative in tabletop role-playing games, with many fans, including the author, drawn in by the series LA By Night. Jason Carl has played a crucial role in revitalizing the franchise since 2010, transitioning from CEO of By Night Studios to a game producer and brand marketing manager. Despite the success of LA By Night and New York By Night, recent video game projects like Bloodlines 2 have faced challenges, including a disappointing 57% score on Steam and a million write-down by Paradox Interactive. Carl announced his departure from the World of Darkness in a message on Discord, expressing pride in the community's contributions and confidence in the future leadership. He will be joining Tabletop Vacations as Dean of Dungeon Master University, focusing on helping Dungeon Masters enhance their skills.

Colossal Order is ending its partnership with publisher Paradox Interactive, with the asset editor being the last major enhancement. The game will be handed over to Iceflake Studios, which will reveal future plans for Cities: Skylines 2 soon.

Paradox Interactive is developing the next significant update for Stellaris, version 4.3, called 'Cetus,' expected to be released in the first quarter of 2026, depending on open beta testing results. The update will focus on refining the game's economy and naval mechanics, with updates to the beta build every two weeks. The initial phase of the open beta will target economic updates and ship design modifications, resulting in a 7% improvement in overall performance. Economic adjustments will include changes to empire size modifiers, unemployment rates, base technology costs, ethics modifiers, upkeep costs, living standards, happiness levels, planetary ascension, and automation buildings. The update aims to lower economic levels and control non-linear growth, while some threats remain unchanged. The development team plans to address issues such as game performance reporting, desynchronization tracking, and optimizations for various game elements. Fixes for ethics shifts and faction issues, new job swap options, and a streamlined slavery mechanic are also in progress, along with improvements to memory usage and multiplayer stability. The release timeline will depend on the outcomes of the beta testing.

Europa Universalis was developed under significant pressure, with tight deadlines and a focus on survival. Johan Andersson, the lead developer, noted that the team quickly generated ideas for Europa Universalis 2 to ensure its release before Christmas to secure funding. The original game allowed players to select from a limited number of scenarios, which led to interest in broader gameplay. Henrik FÄhraeus, a mod maker who proposed making any country playable, was hired as a content designer for the sequel and later became chief creative officer at Paradox Interactive. Upon its release, Europa Universalis 2 received good reviews, but distribution was initially limited to Germany, affecting its audience reach. Despite challenges, a dedicated community formed around the game, with fans ordering it from Germany to play.
