After over 3 years of running like dogwater on Steam Deck, one of my favorite RPGs has finally earned its Verified badge

Dread Delusion now runs exceptionally well on the Steam Deck, achieving a steady 60 frames per second and offering over four hours of battery life. After the April 15 patch, frame rate dips have been largely eliminated, with only minor pauses during loading or autosaving. Developer Lovely Hellplace is working on a follow-up title, Entropy, which will build upon Dread Delusion's art style and presentation. The game features intriguing RPG quests, including one titled "The Ethics of Eating Flesh," which explores a moral dilemma involving a human meat substitute for sentient zombies.

Microsoft beefs up Remote Desktop security with … hard-to-read messages

Microsoft has released an update to improve the security of its Remote Desktop feature, which includes a warning for users opening Remote Desktop (.rdp) files. However, this warning is not displaying correctly for some users due to a bug identified in the Known Issues list after the April 14 update. The issue primarily affects users with multiple monitors set to different display scaling, leading to overlapping text or obscured buttons. Microsoft has advised users to synchronize their display scaling settings or use keyboard navigation as a workaround. The company plans to address this issue in a future Windows update but is not issuing an Out-of-Band update specifically for it. Additionally, a serious vulnerability (CVE-2026-40372) was discovered in the .NET framework, affecting versions 10.0.0 to 10.0.6, which requires immediate attention. This vulnerability impacts all Windows versions that received the update, including Windows 11 26H1.

New Slay the Spire 2 update reworks Ironclad’s most unpopular card and makes lower Ascensions easier

Developer Megacrit has released beta patch notes for Slay the Spire 2, focusing on refining the Ascension difficulty scaling. Changes include reduced HP for Scrolls of Biting, Owl Magistrate, and Slimed Berserker at lower Ascensions, while making them stronger at higher levels. The Vantom Act 1 boss has been nerfed, and the Waterfall Giant elite heals less in low-difficulty encounters. The team is monitoring the performance of the Act 3 boss, Doormaker, but is hesitant to make further changes. Card updates feature new artwork and significant reworks for Conflagration and Drum of Battle for Ironclad, with Conflagration now dealing two damage to all enemies four times at base. Regent's Parry has been adjusted to align better with Dexterity and Frail mechanics. Neow's blessings have seen some improvements, with Booming Conch providing additional energy and Neow's Fury allowing players to choose cards from the discard pile. Tezcatara's Nutritious Soup relic has been buffed to grant Strikes additional damage and cost nothing. The patch also includes various smaller balance changes, user interface enhancements, and bug fixes.

Black Ops 7 is finally getting one of Call of Duty’s most iconic maps

Summit, a popular map from Call of Duty, will return in Black Ops 7 as part of the Season 3 Reloaded patch. Originally introduced in Black Ops 1, it features a research facility on a snowy mountain with narrow corridors and a central research room. Summit has been updated with visual enhancements and advanced technology while retaining its iconic cable cars. Additionally, Hacienda from Black Ops 4 will also return, alongside new maps like Onsen and Ascent Freerun. The update includes new weapons such as the Siren special weapon and a Katana melee option, as well as a new Zombies map called Totenreich. Black Ops 7: Season 3 Reloaded launches on April 30, 2026, at 9am PST.

How to tame the Abyss Heuklang in Crimson Desert

The Abyss Heuklang is a new pet available in Crimson Desert, unlocked in a recent patch. Players can find it at the entrance of the Axiom Archive during Chapter 1's quests. To tame the Abyss Heuklang, players must perform pet actions like petting or offering treats (milk or bird meat) to build trust. Once trust is established, players can select the "Take In" option to add it to their pets.

Get Linux on your ancient 486 Windows 95 desktop using WSL9x — very old Windows PCs can cooperatively run very modern Linux kernels

New Crimson Desert update brings new difficulty options and, most importantly, a pet bird

Riot admits it “made mistakes” with League of Legends’ ranked season, imposes hard reset at apex levels

Riot Games is revising the matchmaking framework for League of Legends in preparation for the 2026 season, including the introduction of the Aegis of Valor for autofilled players and reinstating duo queues across all tiers. Players in apex ranks have reported issues with inconsistent matchmaking and LP gain discrepancies. In response, Riot will implement a hard reset of the apex ranked ladder with patch 26.09, placing all players at Master 0 LP. This reset aims to create a more equitable environment but may lead to "wonky matchups." All rewards for Season 1 will be distributed as planned, while Season 3 will reconcile rewards for apex-tier players based on their highest rank. Starting in 2027, LP gain and loss will increase to a maximum of 30, and minimum LP cutoffs for Challenger and Grandmaster will rise to 800 LP and 400 LP, respectively. The apex ranked reset will take effect at the beginning of Season 2 on April 29, impacting regions including BR, EUNE, EUW, LAN, NA, and TR. Initial community reactions have been more positive than expected.
