Qualcomm ramps up challenge to Intel and AMD with latest AI PC chip

Qualcomm unveiled its Snapdragon X Plus 8-core chip at the IFA conference in Berlin, targeting PCs running Microsoft's Windows operating system and enhancing artificial intelligence capabilities while maintaining battery life. This chip expands Qualcomm's Snapdragon X Series, which aims to cater to a broader range of devices, including budget PCs. Historically focused on smartphone chipsets, Qualcomm's collaboration with Microsoft includes Surface Laptop and Surface Pro tablets equipped with its chips, branded as Copilot+ PCs, capable of performing AI tasks offline. Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon highlighted the company's vision for diversification into the PC market, driven by the convergence of mobile and PC technology and AI integration.
