‘There is no way a Borderlands game is that demanding’ — Borderlands 4 users furious as PC requirements reveal RTX 3070 minimum GPU, 3080 recommended

I love that DOOM: The Dark Ages requires ray tracing, and I hope more games follow

DOOM: The Dark Ages requires a graphics card with ray tracing hardware, specifically at least an NVIDIA 20-series card, making older models like the GTX 1080 incompatible. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle also necessitates ray tracing capabilities, raising concerns about performance on existing hardware. Billy Khan from id Software stated that ray tracing significantly reduces game development time, allowing for real-time adjustments. Ray tracing has been part of the graphics card landscape for over seven years, with all current consoles supporting it. NVIDIA's latest RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 cards have faced driver issues affecting gameplay, while alternatives from AMD and Intel, as well as NVIDIA’s 30 and 40-series cards, can still provide good performance. Other studios, like 4A Games, have begun incorporating ray tracing into their development processes.

The recommended specifications include Windows 10/11, AMD Ryzen 7 5800X or Intel Core i7-12700K, 32 GB RAM, AMD Radeon RX 6950 XT or NVIDIA RTX 3080 Ti, DirectX 12, and 55 GB of storage, also requiring a 64-bit processor and SSD, running at High settings with 1440p resolution. The game is built on Unreal Engine 5 and features a narrative set in early 1900s Sicily, where players will control Enzo Favara in the organized crime underworld. Pre-orders are currently available.

Gears of War: Reloaded Announced, Coming to PC This Summer

Microsoft has announced a remaster of the original Gears of War, titled Gears of War: Reloaded. This remaster features 4K assets, enhanced post-processing effects, improved shadows and reflections, HDR support, and Dolby Vision, along with 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos audio. The campaign mode runs at 60 FPS, while multiplayer aims for up to 120 FPS. The game supports cross-play between PC and consoles without requiring a Microsoft account for the Steam version, although signing in unlocks additional cross-platform features. The remaster will be available on Steam, and the developers have not yet confirmed the engine used or the official PC requirements.
