Multiplayer kaiju action game BeastLink announced for PS5, Xbox Series, and PC

Grove Street Games has announced BeastLink, a multiplayer kaiju action game for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC (Steam), with an Early Access release planned for this summer and a closed beta test for PC users starting on May 8. The game features a narrative where humanity survives in fortified strongholds while colossal creatures roam desolate landscapes. Players can engage in battles as humans or Beasts, utilizing vehicles and the game’s “SuperDestruction” technology to create chaos in destructible cities. Microsoft ended MS-DOS support 20 years ago, but the latest update for the best roguelike ever made still supports it anyway

On September 14, 2000, Microsoft released the Windows Millennium Edition, marking the end of MS-DOS. In 2006, Microsoft ended long-term support for Windows 98 and Me. Recently, a new update for NetHack was released, which continues to support MS-DOS. NetHack has been consistently updated since its launch in 1987. The game has an open-source philosophy and features various iterations, including a modern 3D version that offers a visually appealing interface while retaining the classic ASCII format. The latest update provides an accessible entry point for new players, with options for both 2D tilesets and ASCII mode. NetHack is recognized for its intricate gameplay and has influenced many other titles, earning a place in the Museum of Modern Art.

You Can Now Choose Which Games Use Quick Resume On Xbox

Microsoft is rolling out updates for Xbox consoles and the Xbox PC app as part of the April Xbox update, following a successful testing phase with Xbox Insiders in March. The update includes improved Quick Resume functionality, allowing users to toggle it off for online games that require a stable internet connection. Additionally, users can now pin more groups of games to their home screen, select custom colors for the Xbox interface, and access their play history. The Xbox app for PC has been enhanced to allow any gamepad to control the mouse cursor, pin favorite games, and add installed apps or games to the Xbox library. Why aren’t there more PC-first gamepads? Valve don’t know, but they “did see an opportunity” for the new Steam Controller

Valve's new Steam Controller is set to launch on May 4th, focusing specifically on the PC gaming experience. Valve designers Lawrence Yang and Steve Cardinali discussed the lack of PC-specific controllers in a market dominated by console peripherals. They noted that existing controllers are primarily designed for consoles, with 59% of Steam users currently using Xbox controllers and 26% using PlayStation controllers. The new Steam Controller aims to address the needs of PC gamers by incorporating familiar thumbsticks and inputs, as well as Deck-style trackpads for enhanced utility. It is priced at £85 and is designed to work seamlessly with the Steam platform. Yang and Cardinali also mentioned potential features for future iterations of Valve's gaming hardware.

FF14 Evercold release date window, jobs, trailers, and latest news

The FF14 8.0 expansion, titled "FF14 Evercold," will release in January 2027, with Patch 7.56 arriving on September 8, 2026. The level cap will increase from 100 to 110, and players will encounter a flood of ice in the Fourth reflection of the Source. The expansion will introduce two new jobs: one Tank and one Ranged Physical DPS. Evolved Mode and Reborn Mode will be available, allowing players to choose between a streamlined battle system or a traditional playstyle. The expansion will feature six new zones, approximately six dungeons, three new trials, and a series of eight-player raids. A crossover with Neon Genesis Evangelion will occur in patches 8.1, 8.3, and 8.5. Updates will also include changes to PvP, FATEs, and the Tomestone rewards system. Further details will be revealed at upcoming Fanfests in Berlin and Tokyo.

Microsoft Throws IT Admins a Bone With Ability to Remove Copilot From Windows

Microsoft is adjusting its rollout strategy for Copilot AI in Windows 11 in response to user concerns by slowing down the introduction and visibility of AI features. IT administrators can now completely remove Copilot from their systems with the new setting called RemoveMicrosoftCopilotApp, introduced in Windows 11, version 25H2 (KB5083769). This feature allows for non-disruptive uninstallation of Copilot for organizations using Pro, Enterprise, Education, or IoT Enterprise editions. Specific criteria must be met for effective removal: both Microsoft 365 Copilot and Microsoft Copilot must be installed, the app should not have been installed by the user, and it must not have been launched in the past 28 days. The change is reversible, allowing for reinstallation if needed.
