‘Minecraft’ Official PC Requirement Now Raises Recommended Specs After Over 17 Years

Mojang has updated the minimum and recommended system requirements for "Minecraft: Java Edition." The new minimum requirements include a 64-bit system, 8GB of RAM with a discrete GPU (or 12GB with integrated graphics), a 4-core processor, a Vulkan 1.3-capable GPU with at least 2GB of VRAM, and compatible operating systems (Windows 10 64-bit, Windows on ARM, macOS 12 or later, Linux 64-bit) to support 1080p resolution at 30 FPS using the Fast preset. The updated recommended requirements include 16GB of RAM, a stronger processor, a graphics card with 6GB of VRAM, and compatible operating systems (Windows 11 64-bit, macOS 14 or later, Linux 64-bit) to aim for 1080p at 60 FPS using the Fancy preset. Mojang emphasizes that these new specifications are modest compared to many modern AAA titles and aim to provide players with a clearer understanding of the hardware needed for optimal performance. The update does not affect "Minecraft: Bedrock Edition" and players with older setups may still launch the game, but performance cannot be guaranteed.

Marvel Tōkon’s developer has apologised to PC players for the beta’s performance issues, with only a week until launch

The beta for Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls lasted three days and faced significant challenges, including PlayStation Network outages on launch day and performance issues for PC players, such as severe stuttering and poor optimization. Some players reported a seamless experience, while others criticized the PC port as one of the worst in recent times. Arc System Works acknowledged the issues and is investigating solutions, promising updates and providing troubleshooting options. Speculation about the causes of performance problems included background processes from anti-cheat and PlayStation services. Despite these issues, the beta reached a peak of 33,233 concurrent players on Steam, surpassing previous records set by Street Fighter 6 and Tekken 8. The official release is scheduled for August 6, leaving developers with just over a week to address the feedback and performance issues.

The Xbox app for PC will include premium editions and additional content for popular titles such as Assassin's Creed Shadows, Star Wars Outlaws, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege, Skull and Bones, and Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, among others. Additionally, gamers who own digital copies of Xbox console games will gain access to free PC versions through Ubisoft Connect, with the transfer available only from console to PC. Eligible titles for this program include Assassin's Creed Mirage, Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Far Cry 6, Immortals Fenyx Rising, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, Riders Republic, Skull and Bones, The Crew 2, The Crew Motorfest, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Extraction, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege, and Watch Dogs Legion. Players who purchase any of these games on Xbox will also receive access to the PC version, but not vice versa. Ubisoft has also introduced premium editions of its games to Xbox's PC app. Xbox has been integrating PC gaming, recently making select backward-compatible titles available on PC.
