Valve's new VR headset, Steam Frame, can play games in various ways, including streaming PC VR games, emulating PC VR games on its own Arm-chip, or playing native Arm games in the form of .apk files. There is a possibility that if you purchase a game for your gaming PC, you may also be offered the .apk version for free to use on the Steam Frame. The addition of OpenXR support may make it easier to get virtual reality games working on different devices.

Link PC VR Games Are Now Launchable From Quest’s Library In v81 PTC

The Horizon OS v81 PTC update allows users to launch Quest Link PC VR games directly from the Horizon OS library, eliminating the need for the outdated Rift Dash interface. Quest Link enables Meta's headsets to function as PC VR headsets via USB or Wi-Fi. The Public Test Channel (PTC) provides beta versions of upcoming updates, which may not all transition to stable releases. With the new update, PC VR Store applications are displayed as 'PCVR' in the Horizon OS library, and users can access the Horizon OS interface directly with the Meta button on the Touch controller. This update improves the user experience by streamlining the process of launching PC VR games, but it currently only applies to Meta's PC VR Store games, not those purchased on Steam.

Steam Next Fest – June 2025 Features Over 30 PC VR Demos

Steam Next Fest has begun, featuring over 30 PC VR games. Notable titles include Ghost Town, Of Lies and Rain, Don't Move, Puzzling Places, RAGER, Virtual Skate, Ultima Chess, Retronika, and Whispers of the Void (which has an updated demo). The event runs until June 16, 2025, at 10 AM PT. The list of participating games is based on information from Valve, and some titles may change or new demos may be introduced during the event.
