A scrollbar shortcut in Windows operating systems, allowing users to jump to a specific location in a document by holding the Shift key and clicking on the scrollbar, has been part of the Windows experience since 2000. This functionality is not available in WinUI, the framework for modern Windows 11 applications. A GitHub issue titled “Shift-clicking in scroll bar should jump to destination” was opened in June, indicating the inconsistency of WinUI compared to other frameworks like Win32 and WPF that support this shortcut. Microsoft is aware of the shortcomings in WinUI and is working on addressing various performance issues and enhancing the overall quality of WinUI applications.

The September update for Windows 11 caused significant disruptions, including failures in USB audio functionality and the File History feature. This follows a trend of issues over the past months, with August experiencing printer and PDF problems, July affecting certain Dell PCs, and June reporting startup issues and BitLocker recovery failures. In total, eight out of nine months this year have had at least one major issue. A recurring BitLocker user lockout problem has also been noted. Despite these issues, Windows 11 has improved in overall stability, with fewer system crashes. Windows 10 has maintained stability by focusing solely on security updates since support ended in October 2025, avoiding new feature rollouts. Users satisfied with Windows 10's features may prefer to stay with it for stability. Windows 11 users facing instability can roll back updates or use the Known Issue Rollback feature to revert problematic non-security features.

Microsoft has acknowledged that users may encounter printing issues after installing the August 2026 .NET Framework cumulative update, particularly with applications that use certain fonts like Calibri. Some WPF applications may fail with a System.IO.FileFormatException when printing or generating PDF/XPS content. Microsoft has provided a temporary workaround while investigating these issues. Additionally, the KB5121003 update has been linked to problems affecting the gaming community, which Microsoft is also addressing.
