Windows 10 and 11 include a performance power plan that enhances system performance by allowing hardware to draw power without restrictions. This feature, introduced in 2018, can be accessed in Windows 10 through Settings > System > Power & Sleep > Additional Power Settings, where users can select the Ultimate Performance option. Alternatively, users can enable it via the Command Prompt by entering the command powercfg -duplicatescheme e9a42b02-d5df-448d-aa00-03f14749eb61. In Windows 11, users can also create a custom performance power plan through Control Panel > Power Options. While the ultimate performance power plan can improve performance for resource-intensive tasks, it may lead to rapid battery depletion, increased energy consumption, and higher temperatures, which could risk overheating. The performance boost may not be significant for all users, particularly gamers, and should be used with caution.
