Windows 11 allows users to limit RAM usage through the System Configuration tool (msconfig) for testing and troubleshooting purposes. Users can specify the maximum memory in megabytes, but there is no simple option to set a fixed amount like "4GB of RAM." Limiting RAM can degrade performance and may cause applications to become sluggish. To limit RAM, users must navigate to the Boot tab in msconfig, check the Maximum memory option, and enter the desired amount. To restore full RAM access, users need to uncheck the Maximum memory option in the same tool. On some modern systems with UEFI firmware and Secure Boot enabled, the Maximum memory setting may not be accessible, and disabling Secure Boot may be necessary to apply the limit. Disabling Secure Boot can reduce security against boot-level malware.

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced will be released on July 9th and has secured the Steam Deck Verified badge, indicating it operates seamlessly on SteamOS handheld PCs. This new version surpasses the original Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag, which only received a Playable badge due to technical issues. Black Flag Resynced is the first major title to achieve full compatibility across all SteamOS devices since the launch of the Steam Machine. Previous titles in the Assassin’s Creed series have had mixed performance reviews on the Steam Deck. The game must maintain a frame rate of at least 30fps on the Deck’s 800p screen to meet Verified status criteria, but there are concerns about its technical performance based on preview reports.

Stario Launcher, launched in 2024, is an aesthetically pleasing Android launcher that combines speed and functionality, featuring custom animations, widgets, and automatic app categorization. Its design is influenced by Google’s Material Expressive language, with a minimalist interface that emphasizes essential widgets. The launcher includes a search function similar to Pixel Launcher, supports alternative search engines, and has a dedicated Briefing page for personalized news feeds. It also offers a widget page for customization and a Low Spec mode for older devices. However, the developer plans to cease updates due to Google's tightening policies on third-party apps, which will complicate the installation of non-verified apps starting in September 2026. This situation reflects broader concerns about the future of third-party applications in the Android ecosystem.
