Android Auto to get a major design change, widgets, better music apps

At the Google I/O 2026 event, Google introduced an updated version of Android Auto, featuring a new design that adapts to various display sizes and supports widgets. The interface will utilize the Material 3 Expressive design, allowing personalized fonts and wallpapers from Galaxy phones. A floating app row will be positioned based on the steering wheel's location, and the interface will overlay Google Maps for integrated navigation. The updated Android Auto can display air conditioning controls if supported by the vehicle and allows users to place widgets like Clock, Contacts, Google Home, Photos, and Weather on the infotainment screen. It will also support video streaming from platforms like YouTube when parked, with Full HD resolution and up to 60fps. This feature will be available in select vehicles from manufacturers including BMW, Ford, Genesis, Hyundai, Kia, Mahindra, Mercedes-Benz, Renault, Škoda, Tata, and Volvo. The music streaming interface will be redesigned with tabs at the top and will support Dolby Atmos in compatible vehicles. Popular music streaming services like Amazon Music, Gaana, PocketFM, Spotify, TuneIn, and YouTube Music will adopt this new design, with functionalities depending on device compatibility.

VWFNDR has launched a new camera app called VWFNDR + MBL, which captures unprocessed Bayer RAW DNG and JPEG files, avoiding modern computational photography. The app supports various aspect ratios and offers manual controls for ISO, shutter speed, focus, and exposure compensation. Each photo includes a tamper-evident record via the open Content Credentials standard from C2PA, verifying the image's source and integrity. VWFNDR is the fourth company globally to achieve C2PA Level 2 conformance and the second to support it for DNG files. The app is currently free for Android 10 or later devices but only supports the primary rear camera.

This tool lets you purge Windows 11 of all AI bloat features

Users can manage and disable unwanted AI components using the open-source program FlyOOBE, available for free on GitHub. To use FlyOOBE, users download a ZIP file, extract it, and run FlyOOBE.exe as an administrator. The program allows users to check the activation status of AI components and disable those they do not want by selecting them and confirming the changes. If FlyOOBE freezes, users can close the "Windows PowerShell" window to re-check components. FlyOOBE also offers features for removing bloatware. While it is free, donations to the developer, Builtbybel, are appreciated.
