Google is refining its Gemini Live interface to replace Google Assistant on Android devices by year-end. The updates focus on a compact version of the interface that occupies less screen space, enhancing user interactions with applications. It introduces support for contextual cards from apps like Google Calendar, Keep, Maps, and Tasks, allowing users to access relevant information without disrupting their workflow. The new floating UI enables users to resize the interface for easier navigation back to their original applications. The upgraded Gemini Live interface supports viewing notes from Keep and exploring locations in Maps, with integration for the Pixel Weather app. While still in testing, Google has begun beta trials for a similar feature within the standard Gemini chatbot, with an uncertain timeline for a broader release. Features predicted through APK teardowns may change before public release.

The author has extensively explored various note-taking applications, including Google Keep, OneNote, and SimpleNote, ultimately transitioning to Outline, an open-source application that combines note-taking with personal knowledge management. Google Keep is appreciated for its simplicity but lacks depth, while OneNote's interface is seen as cluttered. Outline offers a clean, intuitive interface, supports markdown for rich formatting, and allows for interconnected note systems similar to a wiki. It integrates well with external tools and provides self-hosting options for data ownership. The author now uses Outline primarily for research, long-form writing, and journaling, finding it superior for serious note-taking compared to Google Keep and OneNote.

CrisisX is a free-to-play open-world survival game developed by HK Hero Entertainment. It features elements such as tree-chopping, base construction, zombie encounters, and player-versus-player combat. The game boasts a 1200x1200 km map, significantly larger than Chernarus from DayZ, and can support up to 5,000 players on a single server. However, there are concerns about the game's depth and engagement, as it follows familiar survival mechanics and may feel empty without meaningful content. Combat animations appear stiff, and the overall presentation lacks originality. The game includes poker and slot machines as unique features. The free-to-play model allows players to try the game with minimal risk.
