OsmAnd: An open-source offline navigation app with extensive customization but a steep learning curve and rigid address searches; now prefers Organic Maps for ease of use.

Gemini 3.5 Flash lands on Google’s Android coding rankings, but it’s 3x the cost for slower performance

Google has released benchmark results for evaluating AI models in Android coding, revealing that the Gemini 3.5 Flash is the most resource-intensive model but ranks sixth overall. The benchmarks indicate that Gemini 3.5 Flash has higher latency and a 9% performance gap compared to its predecessor, Gemini 3.1 Pro Preview, despite being marketed as a faster alternative. In terms of cost, Gemini 3.5 Flash averages 355.9 tokens per benchmark run at approximately 7.1, while Gemini 3.1 Pro Preview uses only 73.3 tokens at about a third of that cost. The top-ranked models include GPT 5.5, GPT 5.4, and Gemini 3.1 Pro Preview, while Claude Opus 4.7 ranks fourth. The rankings feature both open-weight and closed-weight models, with the list remaining consistent since the last release, except for the removal of GPT 5.3 Codex.

Mojang is developing Minecraft Dungeons 2, a sequel that enhances the original game's mechanics and introduces an interconnected world for exploration. Microsoft Defender RoguePlanet Zero-Day Grants SYSTEM Access on Updated Windows

An anonymous researcher known as Chaotic Eclipse has released a proof-of-concept exploit called RoguePlanet, targeting a zero-day vulnerability in Microsoft Defender. The exploit, which is a race condition, has a variable success rate, achieving 100% success on some machines while being less effective on others. When successful, it grants attackers SYSTEM-level privileges on Windows 10 and 11 systems with the June 2026 Patch Tuesday updates. The exploit does not work on Windows Server due to restrictions on mounting ISO images. Chaotic Eclipse has criticized Microsoft's defenses against path redirection attacks and claims to have found multiple vulnerabilities within Defender and other Microsoft software components. The researcher has expressed dissatisfaction with Microsoft's handling of vulnerability disclosures, particularly after losing access to the Microsoft Security Response Center account. Microsoft has condemned the public disclosure of vulnerabilities as unjustifiable, stating it puts customers at unnecessary risk, and has removed Chaotic Eclipse's GitHub and GitLab accounts. Microsoft clarified that it does not intend to pursue legal action against individuals conducting security research but will collaborate with law enforcement against malicious activities.
