Did you know the Gallery app on your Samsung phone has a secret menu? Here’s how to find it

Samsung's Gallery app has a hidden menu called Gallery Labs that offers additional features beyond the well-known tools. To enable Gallery Labs, users must open the app, access the menu, go to Settings, tap on About Gallery, and then tap the version number ten times. Once enabled, users can lock albums with a PIN or fingerprint, create slideshows with selected items, save images as PDFs, add a seek bar for videos, enable a timeline view for albums, and turn off video previews. Gallery Labs is regularly updated, and users can reset settings or disable the menu if needed. Similar hidden features exist in other Samsung apps like Wi-Fi settings and My Files.

Samsung phone users may finally get a proper locked folder in the Gallery app

Samsung is introducing a built-in Private Album feature in the Gallery app as part of the One UI 8.5 update, aimed at enhancing privacy for sensitive photos. This feature simplifies the process of managing private images, allowing users to easily move photos to the Private Album without the need for the Secure Folder. Access to the Private Album is secured by fingerprint or screen lock, and screenshots are disabled within this section. Currently, the feature is in beta and has limited functionalities, such as sorting files only by date. The official rollout is pending for users to fully experience the feature.

Samsung could get you a secret vault for your photos in One UI 8

Samsung is enhancing user privacy in its upcoming One UI 8 Gallery app with a new feature called "Private album," designed to discreetly store photos and videos. This feature is currently in beta testing within the hidden “Labs” section of the app, indicating it may not be included in the final release. The Private album aims to provide a simpler alternative to the existing Secure Folder for managing visual content. One UI 8 is built on the forthcoming Android 16 and is expected to launch after the stable release of Android 16 in June. The update will introduce various refinements to enhance user experience, including improved background task management, smarter app suggestions, and better battery management. There are also rumors of new features like video summarization in Samsung Internet and an upgraded Secure Folder.
