Chen noted redundancy in the list, suggesting "install" was unnecessary since it included "inst." For executables not matching the terms, Windows 95 scanned the executable's path for "Setup." The system maintained backup copies of frequently overwritten files in a hidden directory at C:WindowsSYSBCKUP and would restore correct versions after installers completed. File verification was often postponed until the next system boot, especially for installers that reverted to MS-DOS for file replacements. This file repair mechanism continues to influence modern operating systems, including Windows 11.

It is created during the provisioning of Windows with a Microsoft Account and is stored in the Windows registry under HKCUSOFTWAREMicrosoftIdentityCRLExtendedProperties. The GDID remains persistent through Windows updates but is not retained after a clean reinstall. A single user can possess multiple GDIDs linked through their account, OneDrive, and activation history. The FBI used the GDID to track Peter Stokes, an alleged member of the Scattered Spider group, across various VPN connections and proxy servers. The GDID was recorded visiting specific websites and was linked to Stokes's accounts on platforms like Snapchat and Facebook. Concerns have been raised regarding user privacy, as the GDID is assigned without user consent and cannot be disabled without compromising essential Windows features. Microsoft has not committed to providing user-facing controls or comprehensive documentation for everyday users regarding the GDID. Legal requests can compel Microsoft to disclose GDID activity data to law enforcement. The GDID is linked to the Microsoft Account rather than the device itself, meaning reinstalling the operating system does not sever this connection.

The 'Tree Village' by Ben V. was disqualified for not adhering to submission guidelines but will be recognized as an honorable mention. All builds will be included in the movie or its end credits. Minecraft Movie Build Challenge winner announcement

The Tree Village Build was removed from Grand Prize consideration due to an oversight in the admission process, as it incorporated blocks from multiple biomes. However, it will receive a special mention and be featured in the movie alongside the finalists and overall winner. The Tranquil Taiga Tower, another semifinalist, will also be included in the final movie. A Minecraft Movie Squared is set to release on July 23, 2027. All Finalist Builds will transition to the movie, with minor adjustments possible. The exact placements of the Builds in the movie are not disclosed, and the Tree Village Build is included to honor its popularity within the community. Warner Bros. will determine the placement of the Build in the movie.
