Microsoft has expanded the Windows Recall preview to include a wider range of Copilot+ PCs, allowing users of Intel and AMD processors to access advanced features such as Recall, Click To Do, and Image Generation. Previously, only Snapdragon-powered Copilot+ PCs had access to these features. Click To Do enables users to analyze content on their screens by pressing the Windows key and clicking the mouse, similar to Google’s Circle Search. Some advanced capabilities of Click To Do remain exclusive to Snapdragon X PCs. Intelligent text generation is currently available only on Arm architecture, but Intel and AMD users will gain access soon. The rollout of these features beyond the Insider Program is expected as early as early 2025, with February or March being likely timeframes.

OpenAI has launched a Windows desktop application for ChatGPT, following a macOS version, aimed at integrating AI into daily life. The application is currently in preview for ChatGPT Plus, Enterprise, Team, and Edu subscribers, allowing users to access the AI assistant with a keyboard shortcut (Alt + Space) from anywhere on their PC. This initiative is part of OpenAI's strategy to position ChatGPT as an essential tool in personal and professional settings, enhancing user engagement and data collection. OpenAI is also exploring partnerships beyond Microsoft, including discussions with Oracle and outreach to the U.S. military. The release could transform enterprise software by positioning ChatGPT as a core productivity tool, potentially disrupting traditional software providers. However, OpenAI faces challenges regarding biases in AI models and the implications of its rapid growth and commercialization.
