Google is taking the hackers to court over a major Android fraud ring

Google is suing unidentified hackers in China for hijacking over 10 million devices to create the BadBox 2.0 botnet. The botnet has been found on budget Android streamers, tablets, and projectors, either preloaded with malware or infected during setup through dubious apps. Google’s Play Protect now automatically blocks anything linked to BadBox 2.0. The lawsuit was filed in a New York federal court following investigations by Human Security and Trend Micro. Compromised devices include TV streamers, projectors, car infotainment systems, and digital photo frames, many of which originated from China. Hackers gain access to home networks by preloading malware or infiltrating devices during setup. The BadBox malware operates in the background, generating fraudulent ad clicks. Google is concerned about the financial burden of fake ad traffic and the impact on user trust and its reputation.

Which Cinema Format Should You Choose For Minecraft: The Movie?

Minecraft's film adaptation is set for release on April 4, 2025, featuring a cast that includes Jack Black as "Steve," Jason Momoa, and Jennifer Coolidge. The film will be available in various formats, including IMAX 3D, 4DX 3D, RealD 3D, and Dolby Cinema. In the UK, IMAX 3D will only be shown at the BFI IMAX, while other venues will present it in 2D. New HDR by Barco Theater Locations Debut With ‘Novocaine’; Upcoming Titles Include ‘Minecraft,’ ‘Warfare’ (EXCLUSIVE)

The Cinepolis Pico Rivera in Los Angeles County and the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema New Mission in San Francisco are the first permanent theaters to feature Barco's new premium HDR laser projectors, coinciding with the release of Paramount’s film “Novocaine.” The Pico Rivera location also introduces the Cinepolis MACRO XE premium auditorium format in the U.S. Upcoming films mastered for this system include “A Working Man” on March 28, “A Minecraft Movie” on April 4, “Warfare” and “Civil War” on April 11, and “The Accountant 2” on April 25. “Novocaine” is also being screened in HDR at B&B Theatres Red Oak 12 in Dallas, Regal Dania Pointe in Miami-Ft. Lauderdale, and Regal Times Square in New York. The HDR projectors utilize Barco’s “light steering” technology for improved viewing experiences. The pilot program last year included films like “Transformers One,” “The Wild Robot,” “Smile 2,” “Joker: Folie À Deux,” and “Red One.” The projectors will be showcased at CinemaCon starting March 31 in Las Vegas.
