Windows 11 Version 25H2 is Now Being Pushed to All Eligible PCs

Windows 11 version 25H2 is now available for Home and Pro users, rolling out to all non-managed PCs currently on version 24H2. The upgrade will be automatic for eligible users unless there are compatibility issues. Version 24H2 will reach its end of support on October 13, 2026, while version 25H2 will be supported until October 2027. The upgrade process uses a simple enablement package, and most features are accessible to both versions. However, version 25H2 removes certain legacy features like PowerShell 2.0 and WMIC. Users can choose when to restart or postpone the installation, but it becomes mandatory after a pause time limit. Windows 11 version 26H1 is in development and will debut on new devices with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X2 Series processors.

Android Phone Hits 40-100 FPS In Emulated AAA PC Games Like Resident Evil Requiem

Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 powers the RedMagic 11 Pro Golden Saga Edition, which can run high-profile PC games through emulation on Android. In a demonstration, it achieved playable framerates in games like Cyberpunk 2077, Ghost of Tsushima, Grand Theft Auto V, Project Cars 2, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Resident Evil Requiem. The device features a 6.85-inch display with a 144Hz refresh rate, a resolution of 2688x1216, 24GB of LPDDR5T memory, and 1TB of UFS 4.1 Pro storage. It includes a dedicated gaming chip, the RedCore R4, and a liquid cooling system with an active fan. Users can choose from performance modes such as Eco, Balanced, Rise, and Diablo, with the Rise mode providing a balance of performance and efficiency. During testing, Red Dead Redemption 2 averaged framerates in the high 40s, reaching nearly 60 FPS, while Resident Evil Requiem exceeded 90 FPS in some areas. Grand Theft Auto V reached up to 100 FPS indoors and over 60 FPS in the open world.

Windows 11 Task Manager is finally getting deeper insights into NPU usage in AI PCs — No more trying to guess which apps are using the specialized hardware

Windows 11's Task Manager is being updated to provide more detailed insights into Neural Processing Unit (NPU) performance. The latest Insider Preview Build 26300.8142 introduces optional columns for NPU Dedicated Memory and NPU Shared Memory in the Details tab, along with showcasing neural engines associated with the GPU in the Performance tab. The NPU was first introduced in mainstream devices with Qualcomm Snapdragon X chips and Microsoft Copilot+ PCs in 2024. Many new laptops and desktops now come equipped with NPUs, compatible with Copilot+, regardless of whether they use Qualcomm, Intel, or AMD hardware.

Microsoft to eliminate shader wait times in PC games

Microsoft has introduced enhancements to its Advanced Shader Delivery (ASD) technology to address lengthy shader compilation times for PC gamers. The ASD technology generates a Pre-compiled Shader Database (PSDB) from a Shader Object State Database (SODB), allowing for faster game startups by eliminating the need for local compilation. Since integrating ASD into its software development kit (SDK), Microsoft has achieved an 85% reduction in launch times for the game Avowed. NVIDIA, Intel, and Qualcomm are also set to support ASD in their hardware. Microsoft DirectX Gears Up For ML Era On Windows, Advanced Shader Delivery Solves Game Stutter & Load Times, DXR 2.0 Teased

At GDC 2026, Microsoft announced the introduction of ML-Powered DirectX and Advanced Shader Delivery. The ML-enhanced DirectX includes Cooperative Vectors within Shader Model 6.9, facilitating neural rendering techniques such as Neural Texture Compression and Neural Radiance Caching. DirectX Linear Algebra is introduced to support matrix-based ML workflows, and the DirectX Compute Graph Compiler enables full model graphs to run with native GPU performance. Advanced Shader Delivery allows game developers to provide precompiled shaders to reduce load times and stuttering. New APIs, App Identity API and Stats API, have been introduced to support this feature. NVIDIA, AMD, Intel, and Qualcomm have expressed their support for these advancements. Additionally, Microsoft is developing DXR 2.0, which will support Shader Model 6.10 and is expected to roll out in late summer 2026.
