Microsoft has finally fixed Date & Time bug in Windows 11

An optional update for Windows 11, released on January 28, addresses a bug that prevented non-admin users from modifying their time zone settings. This issue was acknowledged by Microsoft in November 2024, and the patch is identified as KB5050094. Admin users were not affected by this limitation. For those who do not wish to install the update, a workaround is available through the Control Panel or Windows Run to adjust the Date & Time settings. All users will receive the resolution automatically on February 11, 2025, during the February Patch Tuesday updates.

Windows 11 reaches a new all-time high market share on Steam

Windows 11 captured nearly 53% of the market share among Steam users in November 2024, according to Valve's Hardware and Software Survey. Windows operating systems account for 96.56% of all Steam users, with 52.98% on Windows 11 and 43.31% on 64-bit Windows 10, which has declined by 4.15%. Windows 7 holds 0.21% of the market share. Linux users on Steam increased to 2.03%, while macOS users rose to 1.41%. The average gaming PC on Steam features 16GB of RAM, a six-core processor, an Nvidia RTX 3060 graphics card, 8GB of VRAM, and a monitor resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. Intel processors are used by 64.23% of users, and Nvidia holds a 75.76% market share in graphics cards.

Mislabeled patch sends Windows Server 2022 admins on unwanted upgrade to 2025

This issue arose when an update labeled as a security fix, KB5044284, was mistakenly identified as the complete Windows Server 2025 upgrade. The error was traced back to the Windows Update API, which misclassified the upgrade. Approximately 7% of Heimdal's customers experienced this unexpected upgrade before the issue could be blocked. Rolling back to Windows Server 2022 is difficult, as in-place upgrades are not officially supported by Microsoft, leaving affected administrators to rely on backups or purchase new licensing for Windows Server 2025.

Microsoft confirms Azure Virtual Desktop black screen and Office app issues in Windows 10

Microsoft has updated its Windows Health Dashboard to highlight a known issue affecting users of classic Windows 10, specifically those on version 22H2 with recent updates.
