Three Warhammer games are free to keep as part of this year’s Warhammer Skulls event

The Warhammer Skulls event has announced remasters for Dawn of War and Space Marine, a new CRPG titled Dark Heresy, and the video game debut of the Leagues of Votann in Mechanicus 2. Warhammer 40,000: Gladius – Relics of War is free on Steam until May 29, celebrating its latest DLC, the Onslaught Pack. Warhammer 40,000: Rites of War is available for free on GOG this week, allowing players to control the Eldar. Boltgun – Words of Vengeance is also free on Steam, combining typing skills with shooting mechanics. Mechanicus is free to play on Steam for three days. GOG is offering a Warhammer Skulls 2025 digital goodies bag, and players can claim a free coach for the Khorne team in Blood Bowl 3.

Embracer Group sees net sales across PC/console and mobile games fall in FY2024/25

Embracer Group's financial results for Q4 ending March 2025 show a decline in net sales to SEK 5.4 billion, down 6% year-on-year. The PC/console segment generated SEK 3 billion (down 2%), while mobile sales were SEK 943 million (down 31%). For the full fiscal year, net sales totaled SEK 22.3 billion, down 18%, with PC/console games at SEK 1.5 billion (down 27%) and mobile at SEK 5.3 billion (down 9%). The total number of game development projects decreased from 141 to 108, and headcount was reduced from 9,692 to 7,180, including 5,378 game developers. Despite these declines, the game Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 sold three million copies. Embracer reported organic growth of 30% in mobile game sales and 22% in PC/console sales. The company plans to release 76 games in FY 2025/26, including notable titles like Killing Floor 3 and Marvel 1943: Rise of the Hydra. A third AAA game has been postponed to 2026/27, and THQ Nordic's studio Campfire Cabal has resumed operations after a closure in 2023.

Gears of War: Reloaded will debut on PlayStation and is set for release on August 26, 2025. The game will feature native 4K assets, HDR and Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos Surround Sound, variable refresh rate, super resolution, enhanced art direction, and no loading screens. It will support cross-play and cross-progression across all platforms. Players who own Gears of War: Ultimate Edition will receive a complimentary upgrade to this new version, and it will be available on day one through Game Pass.

The Elder Scrolls Online celebrates its 10th anniversary a year late by selling off 2,000 pieces of its servers

Nightdive Studios announced a remaster of System Shock 2 to celebrate its 25th anniversary, despite the game originally launching 26 years ago. Bethesda is selling fragments of The Elder Scrolls Online servers for its 10th anniversary celebration, which occurred a year after the actual anniversary in April of the previous year. Bethesda's keepsake is intended for players commemorating over a decade of the game, although it is technically one year late. Additionally, a new storyline titled Seasons of the Worm Cult is set to be released, described as a sequel to the base game storyline.
