GOG are doubling down on game preservation, and making it easier to see which games run well on modern PCs

GOG is launching the GOG Preservation Program, aimed at enhancing the compatibility of classic games with modern hardware. This initiative includes bug fixes and the integration of modern features, resulting in a "Good Old Game" badge for titles that pass the restoration process. Games with this badge will be the most complete versions available, including all downloadable content, expansions, and supplementary materials, and will be free of DRM. Over 100 games, including iconic titles like Resident Evil 1, 2, and 3, Diablo, System Shock 2, and Fallout: New Vegas, are being reintroduced under this program. GOG aims for all games, classic or recent, to eventually be part of the Preservation Program, although confirming eligibility requires securing permission from original developers and publishers.
