Microsoft is planning to bring backward compatibility for Xbox 360 games to PC, allowing users to purchase and play these games on "Xbox PCs" and other devices through an Xbox 360 emulator. This feature is expected to launch gradually between 2027 and 2028, with developers able to opt in to offer backward compatibility for their titles. Additionally, Microsoft is testing a disc-to-digital program that will allow Xbox One and Xbox Series X disc owners to obtain digital licenses for their games, though this will not apply to Xbox 360 discs.
