Newzoo's PC & Console Gaming Report for 2026 indicates that revenue from PC gaming is shifting, with games ranked 21 and below increasing their share from 48% to 56% in Western markets by 2025. This growth includes a 44% rise in playtime for these lower-ranked games, while overall PC playtime increased by 14%. In contrast, playtime for the Top 20 titles has stagnated or declined. Popular titles like Elden Ring and Skyrim remain significant, but there is growing interest in survival games and action RPGs, such as Rust and DayZ, which benefit from ongoing support and updates. The report also notes a resurgence in retro gaming, with classic simulators appealing to nostalgic players. Newzoo highlights that games like REPO and Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 continue to perform well even after leaving bestseller lists, indicating a broader audience interested in previously popular titles rather than just new releases.

Recent advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics are reshaping industries and enhancing everyday life. The integration of AI with robotics has led to the development of intelligent machines capable of performing complex tasks autonomously. Key applications include: - **Manufacturing**: AI-driven robots streamline production lines, reduce downtime, and improve quality control through real-time data analysis for predictive maintenance. - **Healthcare**: Robots assist surgeons with precision tasks and support patient care, while AI algorithms enhance the speed and accuracy of diagnoses. - **Logistics**: Autonomous delivery drones and self-driving vehicles are transforming supply chain management by significantly reducing delivery times and operational costs. Machine learning has enabled robots to move beyond pre-programmed instructions, allowing them to engage in decision-making, analyze large data sets, and exhibit emotional intelligence. Ethical considerations regarding the responsible design and implementation of these technologies are becoming increasingly important to address potential biases and maintain public trust.

Aptoide, a Portugal-based alternative Android app store, filed a lawsuit in federal court in San Francisco against Google, accusing the company of unlawfully monopolizing the distribution of Android applications and in-app billing systems. Aptoide claims that Google's practices create an "anticompetitive chokehold" that stifles competition and innovation. The lawsuit highlights that Aptoide offers lower commission rates for developers but has suffered harm due to Google's market dominance, which discourages developers from using alternative app stores. Aptoide seeks an injunction against Google's alleged anticompetitive practices and demands unspecified triple damages under U.S. antitrust law. Google has not yet responded to the lawsuit. This legal action is part of broader antitrust scrutiny facing Google, which has faced challenges from other companies and recent court rulings regarding its monopoly status. Following the lawsuit, Alphabet's shares saw an increase, with Class A shares rising 3.63% and Class C shares up 3.56%.

Cybercriminals are using sophisticated tactics to deceive users, particularly with a counterfeit website posing as a legitimate Windows 11 update. This site operates under the domain microsoft-update[.]support and is designed to trick individuals into downloading malware that compromises sensitive information. The site is written in French and mimics a genuine cumulative update for Windows 11, version 24H2, featuring a convincing KB article number and a blue download button. The malware is packaged as a Windows update using the WiX Toolset 4.0.0.5512 and is labeled "WindowsUpdate 1.0.0.msi," with properties that suggest it is from Microsoft. At the time of analysis, VirusTotal showed no detections for the malware, which conceals its harmful code within an Electron shell, making it difficult to identify. Users are advised to download updates directly through the Windows Settings app or from Microsoft's official support hub.

Windows 11, launched over four years ago, has faced user dissatisfaction due to its limited features and stringent hardware requirements, leading to sluggish adoption rates. Some users are considering switching to free alternatives like Linux. In response to criticism, Microsoft is rolling out updates to improve user experience, including allowing users to bypass updates during installations and reintroducing features like a movable Taskbar. Despite these efforts, some experts suggest that Microsoft should focus on developing "Windows 12" instead. The backlash against Windows 11 has led to a rise in third-party tools and modifications, such as Start11 and Rainmeter skins, which enhance personalization and functionality. Social media platforms showcase the popularity of these third-party solutions, indicating a thriving community-driven innovation in response to the operating system's limitations.
