Mojang has released the Chase the Skies update for Minecraft, featuring improved graphics for Bedrock, a craftable saddle, adjustments to leashes, and three new ghast variants: Happy Ghast, Ghastling, and Dried Ghast. To celebrate the update, Mojang has launched two global Community Challenges: 1. Players must collectively spawn 50 million Happy Ghasts in Creative Mode, with rewards including a Ghast Rider Floatie for Bedrock Edition and a Ghast Riding Swimmer outfit for Java Edition. 2. Players need to feed one million snowballs to Ghastlings in Survival Mode, with rewards of Happy Ghast Pilot Gear for Bedrock Edition and a Happy Ghast Pilot Set for Java Edition. These challenges will remain active until the global goals are achieved, allowing players to participate at their own pace.

On June 17, 2025, Mojang will release two updates for the Bedrock Edition of Minecraft: "Chase The Skies" and "Vibrant Visuals," both free of charge. The "Chase The Skies" update introduces the Happy Ghast, a flying mount for up to four players, which can be tamed by transforming a Dried Ghast Block into a Ghastling. This update also includes a Player Locator Bar and new mob and boat interaction mechanics. The "Vibrant Visuals" update features graphical enhancements such as directional lighting and shadows, water reflections, volumetric fog, and enhanced mob and item lighting. Players are advised to gather materials like ghast tears and soul sand, build a Ghastling Station, and ensure their devices meet the requirements for the Vibrant Visuals update.

Minecraft was publicly released in May 2009 and gained popularity with frequent updates. In 2010, saddles were added, allowing players to ride pigs and later horses, but they could not be crafted and had to be found in chests or dungeons. After 15 years, Mojang announced an update that allows players to craft saddles using 3 leather and 1 iron ingot. This change addresses the long-standing frustration of players who could not create saddles despite the game's crafting focus.
