A new application, NvTrueHDR (RTX HDR), launched earlier this year, is an AI-powered HDR converter by Nvidia that enhances the visual quality of older games lacking native HDR support. It outperforms Windows Auto HDR by providing greater in-game vibrancy. However, using the "Very High" preset may cause a 5-10% frame rate drop on less powerful systems, while lower presets typically do not affect performance significantly. Enabling RTX HDR involves dragging a game's executable file into the RTX HDR window and selecting a preset. The executable for Steam titles can usually be found in the Steam Library directory. The application is free and has been particularly effective for enhancing the HDR experience in games like Red Dead Redemption 2.
