A group of fans is attempting to revive Borderlands Online, a game originally developed by Shanda Interactive Entertainment for the Chinese market, which was cancelled in 2015. They have found an old build of the game from obscure websites and aim to create a playable version despite significant challenges in reverse-engineering the software. The project is fan-driven, with no intention of infringing on copyrights or making a profit. The team has also discovered the de_dust2 map within the game files.

Microsoft has enhanced the Snipping Tool in Windows 11, allowing users to create animated GIFs directly from the application. This feature can be accessed using the Win + Shift + R shortcut and is currently available for Windows Insiders in the Dev and Canary channels. The Snipping Tool now includes a "Create GIF" option, enabling users to record a selected screen area and save the animation as a GIF or share it directly. Users can export GIFs in "low" or "high quality," with a maximum length of 30 seconds, after which they can export as MP4. The feature supports multi-monitor setups and is exclusive to Insider versions of Windows 11 from build 11.2405.24.0, with a broader rollout anticipated in the summer.

A cyber espionage campaign attributed to the XDSpy threat actor has been discovered, exploiting a zero-day vulnerability in Windows shortcut files identified as “ZDI-CAN-25373.” This vulnerability allows attackers to conceal executed commands within specially crafted shortcut files. XDSpy has primarily targeted government entities in Eastern Europe and Russia since its activities became known in 2020. Researchers from HarfangLab found malicious LNK files exploiting this vulnerability in mid-March, revealing issues with how Windows parses LNK files. The infection begins with a ZIP archive containing a malicious LNK file, which triggers a complex Windows shell command to execute malicious components while displaying a decoy document. This command extracts and executes a first-stage malware called “ETDownloader,” which establishes persistence and downloads a second-stage payload known as “XDigo.” The XDigo implant, written in Go, collects sensitive information and employs encryption for data exfiltration. This campaign represents an evolution in XDSpy's tactics, combining zero-day exploitation with advanced multi-stage payloads.

Microsoft is preparing a new feature for Windows 10 that will facilitate PC-to-PC migration, expected to debut alongside Windows 11. This feature, tentatively named “Transfer information to a new PC,” is integrated into the existing Backup app and has been observed in a preview build, although it is currently hidden and not enabled for testing. Some Windows Insiders have managed to activate the migration feature with limited functionality. To transfer data and settings from a Windows 10 device to a new Windows 11 machine, both computers must be connected to the same network, and a confirmation code will be required to establish the link. The urgency for this feature is heightened by the approaching end of support for Windows 10 in October 2025, as Microsoft aims to streamline the transition for users unable to upgrade their machines.

Stellar Blade has gained attention for its performance at 8K resolution with DLSS Quality settings, although players have reported significant specular aliasing issues, particularly on metallic surfaces in environments like the Hall of Records. This aliasing affects both PC and PS5 versions of the game, indicating a widespread graphical concern. The comparison between 4K with DLAA and 8K with DLSS Quality shows that 8K provides a more stable and refined image, enhancing clarity and detail in characters and environments. Enabling HDR can worsen specular aliasing, and players may need to increase internal resolution to alleviate these effects. High-end GPUs, such as the NVIDIA RTX 5090, allow Stellar Blade to run over 100 FPS at 8K with maximum settings and DLSS Quality.
