Microsoft predicts that within the next five years, traditional input devices like the keyboard and mouse may become obsolete, replaced by artificial intelligence and voice-activated controls. David Weston, Microsoft's Corporate Vice President, stated that future generations may find using a mouse and keyboard as foreign as DOS is to today's youth. He envisions users interacting with computers through natural dialogue, suggesting that future Windows iterations will understand complex verbal commands. However, skepticism remains about the widespread adoption of voice commands, especially for tasks requiring precision, such as gaming and social media engagement.

Microsoft is enhancing its Phone Link application to allow users to remotely lock their PCs and access clipboard content from their Android devices. The updated Phone Link will enable users to access text and images copied to their PC’s clipboard from their Android phones. This feature is particularly beneficial for Google Pixel users, who have historically lacked cross-device sync capabilities. Users can connect their Android phones to a Windows PC via Phone Link, but not all features are activated by default; manual activation is required through Windows Settings. For Insider Preview Builds, a new “access PC’s clipboard” toggle facilitates one-way syncing of clipboard content from the PC to the phone. The updated Link to Windows app also includes a clipboard history feature and a “lock PC” button for remote security.

In the latest Android Canary release, users can experience a new 90/10 split-screen ratio, allowing a primary application to occupy 90% of the screen while a secondary app takes up 10%. This feature complements the existing 70/30 split-screen configuration. Users can easily swap the two applications with a tap. The 90:10 split-screen option was officially launched in July's Android Canary release and has been part of Android 16's source code. It is being implemented in various Android 16-based operating systems, including Samsung's One UI 8. The feature was inspired by OPPO’s Boundless View multitasking system, although OPPO did not directly contribute to it.
