Aptoide sues Google over alleged Android App Store monopoly

Aptoide has filed an antitrust lawsuit against Google in federal court in San Francisco, alleging that Google imposes unlawful restrictions that hinder competition in the Android app ecosystem. The lawsuit claims that Google maintains an "anticompetitive chokehold" on app distribution, which limits the growth of rival app stores. Deploy Postgres and MySQL databases with PlanetScale + Workers

Cloudflare has deepened its partnership with PlanetScale to enhance the developer experience by providing Cloudflare Workers with access to Postgres and MySQL databases. Users will be able to create PlanetScale databases directly from the Cloudflare dashboard and API, with billing handled through their Cloudflare accounts. Cloudflare credits can be applied towards PlanetScale databases. The integration allows developers to link their PlanetScale accounts and create Postgres databases from the Cloudflare dashboard. Starting next month, new PlanetScale databases will be billed directly to Cloudflare accounts. The integration uses Hyperdrive for database connectivity, managing connection pools and query caching. PlanetScale offers performance and reliability, allowing developers to choose between Postgres and Vitess MySQL. Cloudflare users can deploy PlanetScale databases directly from Cloudflare, with features like query insights and usage breakdowns included. A single node on PlanetScale Postgres starts at a specified monthly rate. Developers can configure Workers to minimize latency by placing them near the primary database, with future plans to automate this process. Currently, billing for existing PlanetScale databases is processed through PlanetScale, but new databases will be billed through Cloudflare starting next month. Further enhancements and API integration are planned, with community feedback encouraged.

Can’t find the Windrose Traveler’s Camp second chest? We couldn’t either… until we remembered a clue from another camp

In the co-op pirate survival game Windrose, players earn experience points (XP) by exploring islands and completing tasks, which include finding and opening treasure chests. The game map indicates the number of chests remaining at each location. During gameplay, the PC Gamer team found one chest at a Traveler's Camp but struggled to locate the second. A memory of a previous camp led them to search for trees with red scarves tied around them, which consistently marked the location of hidden chests. Digging at the base of these trees allowed them to successfully find the second chest at various Traveler's Camps.

Nothing Just Released a Free Android-to-Computer File Sharing App

AirDrop has been introduced on select Pixel and Samsung devices, enhancing file-sharing capabilities for those users. However, many Android users remain without access to this feature. In response, the London-based company Nothing has launched an app and Chrome extension called Nothing Warp, which is currently in public beta. Users must install a Chrome extension on Mac or Windows and the companion Android app, connecting them through a Google Account to share files seamlessly. Nothing Warp does not store transferred files, using Google Drive only for file movement. The app integrates with the Android share sheet for easy file sharing and allows users to send files, links, text, and images. Notifications are sent to the Android device upon receipt of files, and the service is available for free.

Windows Vista: A Beautiful Disaster that Stole My FPS 💻🔥

Windows Vista was released in January 2007 after five years of development, following the long tenure of Windows XP since 2001. Initially, it promised a revolutionary file system, enhanced security, and improved graphics. However, a significant "Development Reset" in 2004 led to a rushed launch with many issues. Vista required a minimum of 2 GB of RAM, significantly more than Windows XP's 512 MB, causing performance problems on older computers. Many games that ran well on XP became unplayable on Vista, and users faced frequent crashes due to driver issues. The User Account Control feature was seen as intrusive and annoying. Ultimately, many users, including the author, reverted to Windows XP due to dissatisfaction with Vista, which was later followed by the more successful Windows 7 in 2009. Despite some relevant features introduced by Vista, it is often viewed as a failure compared to its predecessor.
