Google is introducing a new 'System services' settings page for Android devices to streamline the management of background services. This page will provide a comprehensive list of Google services and applications, allowing users to navigate updates, identify uninstalled services, and confirm which services are up to date. Users will also be informed if they are part of the Google system services beta program, with a streamlined sign-up process for early access to new features. The update is compatible with devices running Android 6 and above and is currently being rolled out, with beta participants receiving priority access. Users can find the new page in the Settings app under their profile, in the All services tab, and then in the Privacy & security setting.

Microsoft has acknowledged that the Windows 11 update KB5060829 is causing unexpected error entries in the Windows Firewall With Advanced Security logs, specifically Event ID 2042, which appears with the label “Config Read Failed” upon reboot. These errors do not indicate any malfunction or security threat, and the firewall continues to function normally. Users can filter out these error entries in Event Viewer or use PowerShell to suppress them. The issue affects only Windows 11 version 24H2 and does not impact server platforms. Microsoft is working on a resolution but has not provided a timeline. Users can uninstall the June 2025 update to eliminate the error, though it is not necessary for system security or functionality.

Microsoft temporarily halted the rollout of June's Patch Tuesday update for Windows 11 due to user complaints and issued an emergency patch. A new issue has arisen with the Print to PDF feature on Windows 11 24H2, where the option is missing from the Settings app and cannot be activated via PowerShell, primarily affecting corporate users. Microsoft is working on a solution through the optional preview update KB5060829, which has also introduced performance problems, including cursor delays in games and erratic Windows Firewall behavior. Users are advised to consider postponing the installation of KB5060829 and may roll back the update if they encounter issues.

Microsoft has introduced a small language model named "Mu" to enhance AI agents in the Windows 11 Settings app. This model operates on Neural Processing Units (NPUs) and is designed to automate tasks on users' PCs with granted permissions. Mu was developed with attention to NPU memory constraints, ensuring efficient operation through NPU-optimized processes. The model aims for ultra-low latency, achieving response times under 500 milliseconds, and is integrated into the search box of the Settings app. Currently, AI agents powered by Mu are being tested among Windows Insiders, who can also explore an update to the Recall app.

Many users transitioning from Windows 10 to Windows 11 find the new design and interface changes challenging. Windows 11 features a centered Taskbar, a simplified Start menu, and an updated File Explorer and Settings app. Users can customize their Windows 11 experience to resemble Windows 10 by making several adjustments. To align the Taskbar and Start menu to the left, users can go to Settings > Personalization > Taskbar > Taskbar behaviors and select "Left" for Taskbar alignment. To show app labels in the Taskbar, users need to select "Never" for the "Combine taskbar buttons and hide labels" setting in the same menu. For those preferring the classic File Explorer, they can access it by searching for Windows Tools in the Start menu and selecting Home or This PC. Users can also change the color scheme by going to Settings > Personalization > Colors and selecting "Custom" mode, choosing a dark theme, and enabling accent colors for the Start and taskbar. To display classic desktop icons, users can go to Settings > Personalization > Themes > Desktop icon settings and check the desired icons. In Notepad, users can disable new features by adjusting settings in the app to revert to a more classic experience. For further customization, third-party tools like ExplorerPatcher and Windhawk can be used. ExplorerPatcher allows users to restore various interface elements from earlier Windows versions, while Windhawk provides a framework for modifying Windows 11 with community-created mods. Both tools can be installed via the Windows Package Manager and offer options to revert to classic aesthetics.
