Find forgotten Wi-Fi passwords, SSIDs in Windows and Android

Windows laptops can retrieve the Wi-Fi password for the current network by searching for "View Network Connections," right-clicking the active connection, selecting Status, and then clicking on Wireless Properties to view the password under the Security tab. For older networks, users can open a command prompt and type "netsh wlan show profile" to see saved Wi-Fi profiles, then use "netsh wlan show profile [NETWORK NAME] key=clear" to reveal the password in plain text. On Android devices, users can view stored Wi-Fi SSIDs and passwords by accessing the quick settings menu, tapping the current network name for the password, or navigating to Saved networks for other networks. Verification may be required to share the password, which can be displayed alongside a QR code for easy sharing.

Microsoft Edge’s settings menu is now so big it can’t fit on a single screen

Microsoft is bringing powerful new AI tools to Windows 11

Hate Windows 11 and don’t want to upgrade? You can now extend the life of Windows 10 until October 2026

Windows 10 users can enroll in the Extended Security Updates (ESU) program, which provides security patches after Microsoft ends support for Windows 10 on October 14, 2025. An enrollment wizard will be available through notifications and the Settings menu, allowing users to sign up directly from their PCs. Users can find an 'enroll now' link in the Windows Update section, but the rollout is gradual, so not all users will see it immediately. Enrollment requires a Microsoft account, and users can access a year of free updates by syncing their settings with the Windows Backup app. Some users have reported being able to switch back to a local account after enrollment while still receiving updates through 2026.

Announcing Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26200.5710 (Dev Channel)

Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26200.5710 (KB5062676) has been released to the Dev Channel. A new "describe image" action is now available in Click to Do for AMD and Intel-powered Copilot+ PCs, enhancing accessibility by providing detailed descriptions of images, charts, and graphs. This feature was previously available for Snapdragon-powered devices. Additionally, Narrator now generates richer image descriptions for blind and low-vision users on AMD and Intel-powered devices. Users can activate this feature using the Narrator key + Ctrl + D. Windows performance logs will be collected when PCs experience sluggish performance, and users are encouraged to provide feedback to help resolve issues. The Click to Do feature is undergoing a trial to remove the search box from its top bar. Lock screen widgets are being updated with widget suggestions, and users can view which third-party applications have recently utilized generative AI models in the Settings menu. There are known issues, including a rollback error (0x80070005) during the update installation and touch navigation problems in the new Start menu. Live captions may crash when using live translation, and some Xbox Controllers may cause a bugcheck when connected via Bluetooth. The Microsoft Changjie Input method is also experiencing issues with word selection.

Microsoft fixes ‘Print to PDF’ feature broken by Windows update

Microsoft has resolved an issue with the 'Print to PDF' feature on Windows 11 24H2 systems that arose after the April 2025 preview update, where the Microsoft Print to PDF printer was not visible in the Settings menu. Enabling the Printing-PrintToPDFServices-Feature led to error code 0x800f0922, preventing the installation of the printer driver. The fix was included in the KB5060829 preview cumulative update released on Friday and will be available to all users with the July Patch Tuesday updates. Users can also manually enable the feature through the Windows Features dialog or PowerShell, although using PowerShell may still result in the 0x800f0922 error. This fix follows previous updates addressing other printing issues and potential delays in June 2025 Windows security updates.

How to secure your printer with Windows 11’s new Protected Print mode

Nine percent of Windows security issues are attributed to its printing system. In 2021, a flaw in the printer spooler, known as "Print Nightmare," was discovered, allowing attackers elevated system rights. Microsoft introduced Windows Protected Print mode (WPP) in the Windows 11 24H2 update to address these vulnerabilities. WPP replaces manufacturer-specific drivers and prevents the installation of new printer drivers, limiting printer spooler tasks to user rights. WPP is based on the Internet Print Protocol (IPP) and is compatible with printers certified by the Mobile Printing Alliance. Users must manually enable WPP through the Settings menu. Once activated, Windows manages print jobs using its WPP driver, and users can find additional tools in the Microsoft Store. To deactivate WPP, users can return to the Settings and remove it, which requires reinstalling the original manufacturer’s drivers.
