Microsoft is introducing a built-in internet speed test feature in Windows 11, accessible by right-clicking the network icon in the system tray or through the quick Wi-Fi settings menu. This feature will redirect users to Bing for the speed test, indicating it relies on external services. Additionally, the Bluetooth & devices page will display all connected phones in a single view with direct management options, and the Privacy & security section will feature clearer headings and descriptions. A new AI background tasks page has also been introduced, though it is currently unstable. These updates are found in Insider builds 26220.6682 and 26120.6682 (KB5065782) in the Dev and Beta channels.

Microsoft will cease support for Windows 10 on October 14, meaning users will no longer receive security updates, technical support, or bug fixes. To check if a device is compatible with Windows 11, users can navigate to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update. The minimum requirements for Windows 11 include 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, and a processor speed of at least 1GHz. Users with incompatible devices may consider upgrading to new computers, as Microsoft has released affordable Surface laptops with Windows 11. An Extended Security Updates (ESU) program will be available for Windows 10 at a cost, primarily aimed at businesses but with a consumer version expected. Alternatives to upgrading include exploring other operating systems like Linux or ChromeOS Flex, using cloud solutions like Windows 365 or Azure Virtual Desktop, or opting for third-party security software such as 0patch. Users can also bypass the Windows 11 upgrade compatibility checker using tools like Rufus or Registry Editor adjustments.

WhatsApp for Android is experiencing a bug that prevents users from opening PDF files correctly. Instead of displaying options like Adobe Reader or Google Drive, users are presented with irrelevant choices such as wallet apps and Google Play services. This issue affects some users selectively, particularly when trying to access PDFs they have sent to themselves or others. Reports indicate that the problem is specific to WhatsApp's file handling, as accessing the same PDFs through the phone's file manager works without issues. Users have found temporary workarounds, such as sharing PDFs to external apps or using WhatsApp Web, although the latter has its own scrolling issues. WhatsApp has not yet acknowledged the bug, but users are encouraged to report it. A fix is expected soon, and some beta users have reported no issues with PDF access.
