Microsoft is requiring users to set up Windows 11 PCs exclusively through a Microsoft account and an internet connection. Recent updates in Windows 11 preview builds have eliminated several bypass methods for the Microsoft Account setup requirement, including the commands start ms-cxh:localonly and oobe/bypassnro. Attempting to use the start ms-cxh:localonly command will not display the local account creation screen. While some bypass methods remain, they are now more complex, such as editing the Windows image for an unattended install with a local account. Microsoft has patched the most recognized methods to avoid the account setup requirement in the latest preview builds, which may take weeks to reflect in production versions.
