Minecraft’s servers are down, locking players out of the game for hours

On June 3, Minecraft players experienced server issues that primarily affected the Bedrock edition, causing login difficulties due to authentication server malfunctions. The disruptions began around midnight PDT and escalated throughout the day, impacting both Bedrock and Java editions' Realms multiplayer system. Bedrock players faced error messages indicating problems connecting to Minecraft services and verifying game ownership due to issues with Microsoft's authentication servers. Both Bedrock and Java players encountered timeouts when trying to join Realms, receiving an Error 502 message. This incident followed previous server issues on June 1 related to a Microsoft Azure outage. Mojang has not provided updates on the situation.

Minecraft dev Mojang just added two huge multiplayer features to Java Edition with new Snapshot build

Mojang Studios has introduced new multiplayer features in the Minecraft 26.2 Snapshot 7 for Java Edition, including a Friends List and peer-to-peer connection options. The Friends List allows players to send and receive friend requests using Profile Names and includes tabs for managing friend statuses. Players can invite friends to join their single-player worlds, enhancing social interaction. Previously, private multiplayer sessions required LAN setups or third-party servers. The update may also support mods for peer-to-peer multiplayer if all players have the same mods installed. Additionally, the upcoming Chaos Cubed update will introduce a new sulfur cave biome, scheduled for release in Q2 2026.

The "Spring to Life" update for Minecraft Bedrock Edition, released on March 25, introduces a long-awaited pause feature for single-player local worlds. This feature allows players to pause gameplay, addressing a significant limitation of the Bedrock version. The pause function is only available in worlds owned by the player and will automatically resume if another player joins. Mojang is gradually rolling out the pause function over the next two weeks. The update also includes new animal variants and blocks.
