The Russian messaging application Max was first tested in March 2025 and is developed by Communication Platform LLC, a subsidiary of VK. It is marketed as a "national" and "unified" messenger, with significant promotion from the Kremlin. A law signed by President Vladimir Putin in June 2025 established Max as a state-owned entity, mandating its use in school chats and pre-installation on smartphones. Mobile operators are required to offer Max without consuming data traffic. Users in occupied Ukrainian territories are also required to install the app. Restrictions on other messaging services have been implemented, with security services limiting their functionalities. By mid-August 2025, Max had around 18 million users, but it has faced criticism for lacking end-to-end encryption and requesting excessive access to smartphone features. Users have reported performance issues and concerns over surveillance by the Russian government. The Kremlin has acknowledged monitoring through Max, and the app is compared to China's WeChat. Putin has ordered increased control over foreign messaging applications, aiming to restrict the use of foreign software by September 2025.

SoundHealth has launched a medical-grade Android app that converts selfies into CT-accurate skeletal data for precise treatments of rhinitis, nasal congestion, and allergies when used with the SONU Band. The SONU Band is the first FDA De Novo authorized AI-enabled wearable medical device that uses sound-based therapy to alleviate moderate to severe nasal congestion and allergy symptoms without medications. The app scans the user's face to create a digital map of their sinuses and calculates optimal resonant frequencies for treatment. The SONU Band uses acoustic vibrational energy to open airways and relieve congestion, with relief reported in just 15 minutes. It is FDA-approved as a safe alternative to nasal steroid sprays, with over 80 percent of users reporting symptom improvement. The device has also received FDA approval for use in children over 12 years old.

In 2024, scanning documents has become essential, with modern Android smartphones capable of converting paper documents into digital files. Google Drive includes a built-in document scanning feature accessed via the camera icon in the app, which automatically detects documents. To achieve optimal results, documents should be well-lit and properly aligned within the camera frame. After capturing the scan, users can adjust settings like color options, cropping, and blemish removal. Once satisfied, users can save the document in formats like PDF or JPG, storing it in the cloud for easy sharing. Alternatives to Google Drive include Adobe Scan and Microsoft Lens. For high-quality scans, standalone scanners or printers with scanning capabilities are recommended, though smartphones can suffice for everyday use.
