Arm-based Windows machines require emulation to run x86/x64 apps because they use different instruction sets. Microsoft has improved the Arm emulation with Windows 11 24H2, called Prism, to enhance performance. Despite growing support for Arm-native applications, many apps still require emulation. Testing showed performance improvements in software applications after the Prism update on existing hardware. Microsoft claims that emulated apps on Snapdragon X Elite PCs are more than two times faster than previous-generation Windows Arm devices.

Opera has released an Arm-optimized version of its web browser for Windows devices, which operates at more than double the speed of its predecessors on Arm-based Windows systems. This version is backed by Microsoft's App Assure team and Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., and is designed to provide top-tier browsing experience on devices equipped with Qualcomm's Snapdragon X Elite Platform. The integration of Opera's new browser with Snapdragon-powered devices not only enhances speed but also improves battery life due to the power-conserving nature of Snapdragon processors.
