Meta’s enterprise AI pitch is strongest inside WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger

The Meta Enterprise Platform, unveiled on September 28, includes four products: Muse, Meta Business Agent, Muse API, and Muse Code, aimed at enhancing business operations with AI. CJ Desai leads the new business unit, which focuses on providing AI agents and developer tools. The Meta Business Agent has been operational since June, automating customer interactions across WhatsApp, Instagram, and Messenger, while Muse was launched on September 8 as a personal AI agent. Muse API offers programmatic access to Meta's AI models, and Muse Code is a developer tool for coding tasks. Analysts emphasize Meta's advantage in customer messaging due to its ownership of popular communication channels, but also note concerns about its credibility in the enterprise space, given its lack of foundational business systems. The discontinuation of previous products like Workplace and Horizon Workrooms raises questions about Meta's commitment to enterprise solutions. The platform's pricing strategy may leverage Meta's computing resources, but organizations need to evaluate its effectiveness based on cost per completed tasks. Initial feedback from marketing professionals highlights potential benefits of the Muse platform for smaller enterprises.

Googlebook review: Android on a laptop is still Android

Setting up a Googlebook for Android users involves scanning a QR code to transfer accounts, data, and applications, requiring Android 17 for optimal integration. Google’s “Better Together” services allow access to files, synchronization of notifications, and app mirroring from an Android 17 phone. Both devices must be on the same Wi-Fi network for connectivity, and users may face limitations such as performance issues, incompatibility with system-level security apps, and the restriction of one app at a time. File access from the phone to the Googlebook is slow and one-way, with the Google Files app on the phone unable to access the Googlebook. The Files app on the Googlebook lacks features like tab support and network share compatibility, making the experience feel limited compared to traditional file management systems.

How to protect your PC from malware

Malware, short for "malicious software," is designed to gain unauthorized access to computers or networks for purposes such as data theft and surveillance. It can be introduced through disguised software or deceptive links. To protect against malware, it is essential to install antivirus software, scan external drives before connecting them, be cautious about downloads, avoid suspicious websites and emails, update applications regularly, enable Tamper Protection on Windows, minimize file sharing, enable Firewall protection, watch out for phishing attacks, and back up data regularly. The future of malware protection may involve leveraging artificial intelligence and machine learning to enhance detection and analysis of threats.

Windows 11 could kill Control Panel faster, as Microsoft quietly tests Settings in the Microsoft Store

Microsoft is testing an application called "Project Odeon," which resembles the Windows 11 Settings interface and is categorized under Productivity in the Microsoft Store. The app is currently in a Preview version, identified as Microsoft.ProjectOdeon, version 1.0.9.0, and requires Windows 11 build 26100 or later with Developer Mode enabled for installation. Odeon does not replace the existing Settings app, allowing both to coexist, and it can identify system information similar to the built-in Settings app, although there are discrepancies in reported data. Some pages in Odeon appear unfinished, and it features a hidden preview mode with a dummy account for testing purposes. The architecture of Odeon suggests it may not fully replace the Settings app but could function as a modular Store app with helper executables for system-level changes. Microsoft is exploring the possibility of delivering updates to the Settings app through the Store, potentially phasing out the traditional Control Panel. There is currently no public release planned for Project Odeon.

Ledger unveils $849 device built to protect your phone

Ledger has introduced Ledger Atom, a security device designed to enhance the protection of sensitive digital activities while allowing the use of everyday applications. It operates on an open-source Android platform for regular apps and a security-focused operating system for sensitive operations, utilizing a secure element chip and a field-programmable gate array (FPGA) for communication between the two environments. Ledger Atom features an integration with OpenClaw, an AI agent platform, which allows AI agents to suggest actions but requires physical approval for sensitive operations. It includes a physical privacy switch that cuts power to the device's cameras and microphones, and supports GPG/OpenPGP encryption for messages. Ledger Atom is positioned as a quantum-ready signing device with post-quantum cryptography and anti-tampering measures. Reservations for a limited Founder’s Edition are open at a price of 9, with an expected launch in summer 2027, pending necessary certifications.
