A developer named JMarshall23 has ported Microsoft Word for Windows 1.1a to x64 architecture, allowing it to run natively on Windows 11. This port uses the original source code and resources, with modern adaptations to address the limitations of the 16-bit assembly and segmented-memory architecture. Microsoft Word for Windows 1.1a was originally launched over 25 years ago and introduced features like WYSIWYG editing, graphics incorporation, and table insertion. Microsoft has made the source code publicly available through the Computer History Museum, which includes a 7MB bundle with C source files, x86 assembly, build tools, and documentation. Users need the Windows 11 SDK, CMake 3.25 or newer, and PowerShell to build and run this version. The code release is governed by a license that permits only non-commercial use, restricting software redistribution.

More than half (52 percent) have experienced cyber attacks, with 17 percent reporting hacking incidents on social media and 12 percent losing access to gaming accounts. Kaspersky recommends that Gen Z implement comprehensive security solutions, consider using a password manager, and utilize a trusted VPN for added online security.

The build includes configuration files with names of former Ritual employees, suggesting its authenticity. Gameplay footage shows new weapons and missions, indicating that the expansion was nearly complete before its cancellation. Third-party advertising tools embedded in Android applications are automatically collecting location data, often without the app developers' awareness. Software development kits (SDKs) used for advertising come with location data collection enabled by default, unless developers actively disable this feature. Historical location data has been sold to military and intelligence agencies, including the FBI, and used in immigration enforcement actions in the US. The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) reported that app-level location permissions do not provide meaningful consent for location collection by third-party advertising SDKs. The EFF identified four advertising SDKs—InMobi, BidMachine, Verve's HyBid, and Huawei's Petal Ads—that collect and share location data by default. Two analyzed apps had been downloaded 60 million times without providing a privacy notice or seeking user consent for third-party location sharing. Users can manage location permissions through their device settings, but the EFF emphasizes that developers should ensure user data is not shared by default.

Developers of PlayStation 5 emulation software have made significant progress in running various 3D games on personal computers, including a version of Minecraft. This advancement is due to architectural similarities between modern consoles and PCs, although major AAA titles still require further system enhancements to be emulated. Sony has decided not to release single-player, high-budget games on PCs, focusing instead on multiplayer titles, which has increased interest in emulation for experiencing single-player games. In contrast, the development of an emulator for the anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 is expected to be more challenging and time-consuming due to its dedicated processor, complex graphics API, and lack of a console jailbreak, leading analysts to predict a lengthy emulation process similar to that of Sony's hardware.

At QuakeCon in Gaylord, Texas, John Carmack, a key figure in gaming, played the Evercade port of Doom and shared his experience on X, noting he reached level four and spent 15 minutes on levels four and five, expressing that it remains a great game after many years. In contrast, Larian Studios' Swen Vincke mentioned he has never revisited Ultima 7 due to concerns it might not match his fond memories, preferring to focus on his own game development. Carmack's enjoyment of replaying classic games reflects a common sentiment among gamers who appreciate revisiting their favorites.
