Microsoft engineer says “typing code is absolutely over,” and Windows 11 is already being built that way

Silver Fox uses adware to distribute ValleyRAT backdoor

The cyber threat group Silver Fox is distributing the ValleyRAT backdoor disguised as a legitimate signed Chinese adware application, specifically bundled with the QN Wallpaper tool. This malware allows attackers to gain comprehensive control over infected machines, enabling them to collect sensitive information, capture screenshots, and deploy additional malicious modules. The attack utilizes DLL sideloading, where a modified version of QN Wallpaper loads a malicious DLL from the same directory, circumventing signature-based security measures. The installer disables Windows Defender, adds itself to autorun entries, and uses the "runas" command to elevate privileges if the user lacks administrator rights. ValleyRAT also marks its process as critical, potentially causing a blue screen of death if terminated. Kaspersky has identified Silver Fox as the likely perpetrator of this campaign, known for similar techniques.

Nvidia & Microsoft push local AI agents on Windows

NVIDIA has enhanced the capability to run AI agents locally on its hardware in collaboration with Microsoft and software partners, coinciding with the launch of new RTX Spark Windows PCs. The installation process for local agent software has been simplified, with improved inference speeds and the introduction of NVIDIA PAIR, which distributes inference tasks across multiple PCs on a local network. Windows 11’s August update broke Teams and Outlook on Arm PCs

Microsoft has identified an issue affecting Microsoft Teams and the new Outlook for Windows on Arm-based devices, such as the Surface Pro 11 and Surface Laptop 7, following the installation of Windows security updates released on or after August 11, 2026, specifically the KB5121003 update. The affected Windows 11 versions include 24H2, 25H2, and 26H1, causing these applications to fail to launch or close unexpectedly, while classic applications like Outlook, Word, and Excel remain unaffected. The issue is more prevalent on new or freshly imaged PCs that have not received updates from the Microsoft Store. Microsoft is working on a solution to be included in a future Windows update. In the meantime, users can mitigate the issue by updating to the latest version of the Auto Super Resolution Package (version 1.0.19.0 or later) via the Microsoft Store.
