Games Done Quick is quickly putting together a speedrunning marathon in support of Hurricane Helene relief

Games Done Quick is hosting the Disaster Relief Done Quick speedrunning marathon to raise funds for Hurricane Helene victims. The hurricane, a category 4 storm, caused over 200 fatalities and extensive damage across several states, particularly affecting the southern Appalachians. The event will accept speedrun submissions until midnight ET on October 6, with the marathon running from 6 PM ET on October 11 to midnight on October 13. Donations will go to Direct Relief, a humanitarian organization. Games Done Quick has raised over a million dollars for various charities since 2010, including over ,000 for Hurricane Harvey victims in 2017.

Games Done Quick operations boss Merkle now owns firm

Games Done Quick (GDQ) has transitioned ownership to Matt Merkle, the organization's director of operations, following founder Mike Uyama's departure in January of the previous year.
