Microsoft has released an out-of-band update, KB5041054, to address issues with Azure Synapse SQL databases entering a "Recovery pending" state after installing the June 2024 Patch Tuesday updates on Windows Server 2022, Windows Server 23H2, and Azure Stack HCI 23H2/22H2. The update fixes a problem with the BCryptSignHash API related to NULL padding input parameters for RSA signatures, particularly when Customer-Managed Keys (CMK) are used. The update is available for Windows Server 2022 and Azure Stack HCI 22H2, with updates for other platforms coming soon.
