Google is updating the visual design of its Wear OS applications, particularly for the Pixel Watch series, ahead of the Pixel Watch 5 launch. The Clock and Stopwatch apps are receiving a redesign with a more natural color palette and refined aesthetics. The Clock app now features a classic 10:10 hand positioning and a toned-down appearance, while the Stopwatch app has a revamped color scheme. These changes are part of Google's broader effort to modernize its smartwatch offerings.

The Google Clock app has introduced Live Updates for its stopwatch and timer features with the launch of version 9.0. This update allows users to see a real-time countdown in the status bar, providing immediate access to timers and stopwatches without leaving the current screen. Users can expand the notification to control the timers. Live Updates are also available on the lock screen and always-on display (AOD), allowing users to track time-sensitive tasks without unlocking their devices. The update is available for download via the Play Store, but the Live Updates feature is being rolled out server-side, meaning some users may need to wait for access.
