Slitherine and Frag Games are developing a digital adaptation of Warlord Games’ WWII tabletop miniatures game, Bolt Action, with a planned release in 2026. The game will faithfully recreate the “Six Orders” activation system, a suppression-based pinning system, and tactical armor facing. Key features include a comprehensive Army Painter for customization and a dynamic single-player campaign set in the Normandy theater. The game will maintain the original ruleset, including the tactical pillars of unit activation, the emphasis on suppression over health, vehicle positioning for damage, distinctions between direct and indirect fire, experience levels for squads, and extensive customization options for forces.

Google's Clock app will no longer be available on non-Pixel smartwatches, as the company shifts to streamline its offerings due to other manufacturers developing their own clock applications. Current users of the Clock app on non-Pixel devices will retain functionality but will not receive updates, and the app will be removed from the Play Store for these devices. Pixel Watch users will continue to have access to the Clock app without disruption. Google has directed users to alternative clock applications on the Play Store. This change coincides with the rollout of Wear OS 6, which is being updated on eligible devices, including the Pixel Watch 4, while previous generations like the Pixel Watch 3 and 2 are also receiving updates. Users can expect enhancements such as smoother scrolling and a more immersive user interface.

AMD has launched the RX 9070 XT and RX 9060 XT, improving its consumer perception, especially compared to Nvidia's underperforming RTX 5070. However, AMD is facing backlash for transitioning RDNA 1 and 2 graphics cards to legacy support. The announcement indicated new game support for Radeon RX 7000 and 9000 series products, but concerns arose regarding the lack of support for RDNA 2, which could affect gaming handhelds. Consumer frustration has been evident on platforms like Reddit, where many questioned the decision to discontinue RDNA 2 support, particularly for GPUs like the 6700XT, 6800XT, and 6900XT. The absence of ongoing support may reduce the value of RDNA 2 cards for future builds, contrasting with Nvidia's continued support for its older RTX 20-series cards. This shift in AMD's support strategy raises concerns about the longevity of RDNA 1 and 2 cards in the evolving gaming landscape.

Valve will discontinue support for 32-bit versions of Windows 10 on January 1, 2026, as only 0.01% of users operate on this system. Existing installations will remain functional but will not receive updates or technical support. Support for Windows 10 64-bit will continue, and 32-bit games will still be playable after the support deadline. Valve advises users to transition to a 64-bit version for optimal performance and security, as future iterations of Steam will only operate on 64-bit systems.

Waze will stop providing updates for devices running Android 9 Pie or earlier, with the latest beta version requiring a minimum of Android 10 for installation. This change affects users with older tablets and in-car entertainment systems. Existing users can still use core functionalities of the app, but new features will not be available. Google Maps remains an alternative for those unable to upgrade, as it supports all systems beyond Android 8 Oreo.

Nvidia will cease new Game Ready driver development for Maxwell, Pascal, and Volta-based GPUs after a final driver release in October 2025. These GPUs will receive quarterly security updates until October 2028. The GTX 10-series, particularly the GTX 1080 Ti, remains popular in the gaming market, while GTX 9-series cards are becoming rare. Ray-tracing technology is increasingly required in new games, but Pascal and earlier GPUs cannot utilize DLSS effectively. However, Pascal users can use Intel's XeSS DP4a model for AI-powered upscaling in compatible titles. Nvidia will provide Game Ready drivers for supported cards on Windows 10 until October 2026, despite Microsoft's end-of-support for the OS on October 14.

Mozilla has extended support for Firefox 115 ESR on unsupported versions of Windows, including Windows 7, 8, and 8.1, until March 2025. Initially set to end support in September 2024, Mozilla reassessed the situation due to the continued presence of users on Windows 7 and decided to extend support for an additional six months. Mozilla plans to reassess its support strategy in August of this year. Meanwhile, the latest versions of Firefox, including version 135 on the Release Channel and version 128 on the Extended Support Release Channel, are available for users on newer operating systems.

Microsoft has released the processor support lists for Windows 11 version 24H2, adding support for Intel's Lunar Lake and Arrow Lake Core Ultra 200 series processors. Support for Intel's 8th, 9th, and 10th Generation processors has been discontinued, following Intel's shift of its 7th to 10th Gen integrated graphics processing units (iGPUs) to a legacy support model. The official CPU support lists were published after several months of Windows 11 version 24H2 being available. The removal of support for the 10th Gen Comet Lake processors, such as the Core i9-10900K, has raised concerns, especially when compared to older models that remain supported. On the AMD side, Ryzen 8000 chips have been added to the support list, but there are discrepancies, including the mislabeling of the Ryzen 7 Pro 8945HS. The non-Pro variant is absent from the list, and Ryzen 9000 and Ryzen AI mobile chips, like the Ryzen AI 9 370 HX, are not explicitly supported. Microsoft has stated that new processors based on existing architectures will still be considered supported, even if not listed. Systems with CPUs outside the official support lists can still receive Windows updates, indicating a flexible support strategy.

Microsoft is offering a paid option to extend support for Windows 10 by one year, pushing the end of support to October 2026. However, support for Windows 10 will officially end in October 2025, after which Microsoft will stop providing free software updates, technical assistance, or security fixes. The company's website now discourages downloading Windows 10 and encourages users to transition to Windows 11, which has seen an increase in adoption with approximately 50 million users switching in the past two months. There are around 850 million users still on Windows 10, with about 400 million likely using hardware that does not meet Windows 11 requirements. Additionally, about 50 million users remain on older, unsupported versions of the OS.

The Thunderbird development team is planning to phase out support for older operating systems in the upcoming major release of Thunderbird, with the last version compatible with Windows 7/8 and macOS 10.12-10.14 being 115.15.x. Unlike Firefox, which will continue to receive security updates for Windows 7 and 8 for an additional six months, Thunderbird will not extend support in the same way. The decision is based on a smaller user base for Thunderbird on these operating systems, limited resources for the development team, and the need to focus on essential updates. Users are encouraged to update their operating systems and hardware for security reasons. Thunderbird 115 and earlier versions are expected to continue functioning on Windows 7 for the foreseeable future, but the option to download the last release may be withdrawn if the software becomes unsafe. Thunderbird is currently managed by MZLA Technologies Corporation, which aims to revamp the software with a new interface and improved email functionalities.
