Microsoft is enhancing the Xbox PC app with a new feature called “Stream your own game,” allowing Game Pass Ultimate subscribers to stream over 250 console games directly to their PCs without installation. This feature expands the library of supported games from 50 to over 250, including titles like Baldur’s Gate 3, Star Wars Outlaws, Cyberpunk 2077, and Hogwarts Legacy. The games run on Microsoft’s cloud servers, conserving installation time and storage space on PCs. To use this feature, users need a Game Pass Ultimate subscription and digital copies of the games; physical discs are not supported. Participation in the Xbox Insider program and registration for the PC Gaming Preview is also required. Currently, the feature is available in 28 countries, with plans to remove the Insider restriction and broaden game selection in the future.

This feature allows subscribers to stream their owned titles, including over 250 games, some of which are not part of the Xbox Game Pass catalog. The streaming does not require an Xbox console, as games are accessed directly from Microsoft's cloud servers. Self-hosting game servers is more performance-efficient and cost-effective compared to commercial providers. Pterodactyl is a game-server management tool that supports various core games like Minecraft, Counter-Strike, and Garry's Mod, and allows for easy deployment through its two components: the panel and "Wings." Community-created "Eggs" enable users to host servers for specific games quickly. The setup process can be intricate, but tools like Proxmox helper scripts can assist. Deploying a server involves allocating necessary ports, and Pterodactyl simplifies configuration for various games. It provides an intuitive user interface and allows for remote management through port forwarding.

A listing on Microsoft’s Edge Game Assist webpage includes the Nintendo title Xenoblade Chronicles X, which has raised speculation about potential collaborations between Microsoft and Nintendo. Despite this, many believe the inclusion is likely a mistake, as the game is not available on PC. Xenoblade Chronicles X was released for the Nintendo Switch in March and is the last major Wii U title to be ported to the platform. All Xenoblade games are now accessible on the Switch, and Monolith Soft, the developer, is reportedly working on a new role-playing game. The chances of a partnership between Microsoft and Nintendo to bring exclusive titles to PC seem slim.
