In version 2.26.41.11 of WhatsApp's Android app, a teardown revealed several new features under development: sound stickers that allow users to add audio to stickers, a toggle to remove the outline from user-created stickers, and an enhanced two-line compose box for messaging. The sound sticker feature includes a sound wave icon for recording or selecting audio clips up to 10 seconds long, with video stickers automatically extracting five seconds of audio. The outline toggle will be available in the sticker creation screen, and the two-line compose box aims to improve user experience by organizing icons for attachments and camera below the typing area. On October 13, 2026, Microsoft released security updates for Windows Server that unintentionally affected Microsoft Exchange Server, causing significant disruptions approximately 24 hours after installation. Users reported issues such as database services failing, resulting in unresponsive email and Outlook Web Access access. Microsoft acknowledged the problem and is investigating it. The updates targeted supported Windows Server and Microsoft Exchange versions 2016, 2019, and SE. By October 15, reports of severe issues, including the inability to connect to the server and halted email delivery, emerged. The error message associated with the disruption is "MapiExceptionMdbOffline: Unable to make connection to the server. (hr=0x80004005, ec=1142)." The tech landscape has shifted to 8 gigabytes as the new baseline for computer manufacturers due to a global memory shortage. Microsoft has been optimizing Windows 11 for devices with limited RAM, including enhancements in background memory management that allow Windows to retain up to 2GB more active data in memory. This improvement helps maintain responsiveness when opening multiple apps or browser tabs. Additionally, optimizations for PCs with 8GB of memory or less include widget management, which now loads widgets only when accessed, freeing up an extra 200MB of memory.
