Minecraft 26.3 Snapshot 4

The window management, input, and platform integration library has been transitioned from GLFW to SDL3. New features include custom furnace fuels and enhancements to signs, world generation, and loot tables. Players in spectator mode can interact with portals for teleportation. Exclusive fullscreen mode on Windows may cause crashes with multiple monitors, and it crashes on Wayland. Minor tweaks have been made to blocks, items, and entities, including armadillos no longer rolling up in liquids. The Raw Input mouse setting has been removed, and mouse input will now use relative mode. Key bindings will use physical keys, and borderless fullscreen is now the default mode. Exclusive fullscreen mode is no longer supported on macOS, and the minimum window size has been set to 320 by 240 pixels. Linux systems will prefer Wayland if available. The debug overlay now supports a separate GUI scale and displays the player's speed and refresh rate. The Data Pack version is 111.0, and the Resource Pack version is 92.0. New components for cooking and brewing fuels have been added, and various bugs have been fixed to improve gameplay stability.

Android app purchases are changing as Google Play opens up billing options

Google is enhancing the payment landscape of its Play Store by allowing developers to implement their own billing systems alongside the existing Google Play Billing, initially available in the US, UK, and EEA. Starting June 30, 2026, the Play Store commission will be divided into a 10% service fee for the first million in annual revenue and a 5% billing fee for transactions through Google Play Billing, with no extra charge for alternative billing systems. The phased implementation will first affect the US, UK, and EEA, followed by Australia on September 30, 2026, and Japan and South Korea on December 31, 2026, with global access expected by September 30, 2027.

Mega Upgrade for Windows 11! Storage Suddenly Much Larger

Microsoft has lifted the FAT32 file system's volume limit in a recent preview version of Windows 11, allowing users to format storage devices with capacities of up to 2 terabytes, an increase from the previous maximum of 32 gigabytes. This change addresses a long-standing limitation that has existed since 1996. Additionally, Microsoft is enhancing the partition tool in Windows 11, improving its speed and responsiveness for managing multiple partitions. These updates are currently being tested in the Windows Insider Program, with no confirmed timeline for broader availability.

Minecraft 26.1 Pre-Release 3

Today, the third pre-release of Minecraft: Java Edition has been released, featuring minor technical adjustments and essential bug fixes. The Data Pack version has been updated to 101.1, with the count field for Placement Modifiers now operating within a range of 0 to 4096. Bugs fixed in this pre-release include: - MC-305118: Resource packs labeled as "Broken or incompatible" now appear correctly. - MC-306240: The /fill command now adheres to the maxblockmodifications game rule. - MC-306620: Feeding a snifflet with a golden dandelion no longer resets its age incorrectly. - MC-306805: Baby zombie villagers' arm positioning has been adjusted for correct movement while holding items. - MC-306840: Dolphins no longer drown when no players are nearby. - MC-306850: Noise settings for caves and floating islands are functioning properly. - MC-306854: Discrepancies in villager trades between versions 1.21.11 and 26.1 snapshots have been clarified. - MC-306859: Clipping issues with the arms of baby zombies, baby husks, gurgles, and baby zombie villagers have been resolved. - MC-306860: Player object text components in server status messages are no longer replaced by fallback text. - MC-306898: Placed/configured features are now limited to 256 tries. - MC-306899: Inverted blocklists for the firepatch and soulfire_patch features have been fixed. The latest Pre-Releases can be installed via the Minecraft Launcher by enabling snapshots. Users are advised to back up their data as testing versions may corrupt worlds. The cross-platform server jar is also available for download.
