The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) is collaborating with local banks to introduce card tokenization services for mobile applications on Android devices, following a similar launch on Apple Pay. This initiative involves partnerships with Visa, Mastercard, and Egypt’s national payment system, Meeza, to enhance digital financial transactions and consumer confidence. As of December 2024, there are over 41.5 million Meeza national cards and 50.4 million mobile wallet accounts, which facilitated 1.1 billion transactions totaling EGP 1.54 trillion in the latter half of 2024. The CBE is also upgrading Egypt’s instant payments network, InstaPay, to improve user experience and efficiency.

Users are experiencing difficulties accessing the National Lottery website and app due to a planned closure for significant upgrades, not an outage. As of 11 PM on Saturday, all draw game sales and prize claims in shops across the UK have been paused and are expected to resume late Monday morning. This closure is part of the largest technological upgrade in the National Lottery's 31-year history, anticipated to last approximately 36 hours. Customers will be unable to log into their online accounts, purchase draw tickets, or claim prizes until later today, Monday, August 4. Allwyn is upgrading the National Lottery’s gaming and retail systems to modernize the infrastructure, as the current systems have been in place since 2009. Some in-store terminals may experience delays in coming back online due to the upgrade processes.

Crytek has rebranded its survival shooter, Hunt: Showdown, as Hunt: Showdown 1896, introducing a new map in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado and transitioning to CryEngine 5.11. This update enhances visual fidelity, upgrades to DirectX 12, implements a new light cache system, and integrates DLSS and FSR technologies for improved performance. The update includes a new biome, a live event called Scorched Earth, non-boss monsters, a roaming boss named Hellborn, and various period firearms and melee weapons. The new map, Mammon's Gulch, contrasts with previous swampy terrains. However, user reviews on Steam have turned "Mostly Negative," with players expressing concerns over bugs, gameplay mechanics, and in-game advertisements. Crytek is engaging with the community to improve the user interface and is exploring the possibility of a single-player campaign in the future. The revamped game will be available for free from August 15th to 19th.
