New Marathon update takes a leaf out of Arc Raiders’ book and encourages you to play nice

A recent update to Marathon has introduced the 'CARRI' system, which stands for the "CyberAcme Runner Reinforcement Initiative," encouraging cooperative gameplay among players. This system rewards both solo players and teams for completing contract objectives and successfully exfiltrating together. Players can earn CyberAcme Commendations, which can be spent in the CARRI Armory for various rewards, including weapons and salvage crates. Solo players can earn commendations by completing individual objectives and can receive extra commendations when extracting with others. A new 'toggle to open' setting for proximity chat and an end-of-run feature called 'Stay Together' promote friendly interactions. The update also includes a 'Mercy Kit' for reviving downed players from other teams and introduces eleven new Deluxe Unique weapons, balance changes, and adjustments to gameplay mechanics, such as railgun charging and extraction timers. The update is now live.

Microsoft says Windows’ Secure Lock screen clock deliberately runs up to 30 seconds behind

Users have reported that the clock on the Secure Lock screen of Windows operating systems can lag by up to 30 seconds behind the actual time. Microsoft clarified that this behavior is an intentional design choice, as the Secure Lock screen operates on the Winlogon secure desktop under the SYSTEM account, causing the clock to refresh every 30 seconds. Other time-dependent functions in the system maintain accurate timekeeping. Microsoft has no plans to change this behavior, stating that it is a quirky feature of the Windows experience.

How to pickpocket in Crimson Desert

In Crimson Desert, players must acquire a mask to pickpocket, which can be bought at Back Alley Shops, earned through a bounty mission, or looted from enemies. To initiate pickpocketing, players need to gently bump into NPCs, but caution is necessary to avoid detection. Being caught results in being placed in a red witness circle, incurring fines, and losing Contribution points. The Great Thief's Gloves, obtained through the Secret of the Lost Seal faction quest for House Serkis, allow players to pickpocket without detection but have a 30-minute cooldown. Players should progress through house questlines in Hernand to unlock this quest.

Subnautica is free to play this weekend, and the subaquatic survival all-timer has a hefty discount to boot

Google Play game trials let you test a game before you commit

Game trials on Google Play are built directly into the Android App Bundle, eliminating the need for a separate demo app. The timer for the trial starts when the game is first launched and continues even if the app is closed. Each trial is one-time use per user, and after 60 minutes a paywall appears to purchase the full version. Google automatically handles progress transfer. Google also announced "buy once, play anywhere" pricing for select titles, allowing a single purchase to access both mobile and PC versions. The rollout of game trials is limited for now, but more titles are expected to be added soon.
