Wear OS 6 will support third-party watch face stores like Facer, which were restricted on Wear OS 5. Facer collaborated with Google to ensure watch faces feature "instant syncing" with Pixel Watches. Third-party faces must utilize the Watch Face Format (WFF), but many older animated and 3D watch faces will not sync. The rollout of Wear OS 6 is anticipated to begin in late summer or early fall 2025. Developers are encouraged to create watch face marketplaces using WFF, addressing previous challenges in promoting watch faces through the Play Store. Facer, TIMEFLIK, WatchMaker, Pujie, and Recreative will be among the first to offer their watch faces on Wear OS 6 devices. The WFF format uses cached sensor data to minimize battery consumption. Facer is preparing to unveil thousands of watch faces for Wear OS 6, available for free or through a premium subscription model. Some legacy faces will be adapted to the WFF standard, but not all previous favorites will be available. Facer aims to equip developers with tools for creating WFF-compliant watch faces and plans to introduce new features and partnerships this summer.

A critical vulnerability, designated as CVE-2025-21297, has been identified in Microsoft’s Remote Desktop Gateway (RD Gateway) due to a use-after-free (UAF) bug linked to concurrent socket connections during the service's initialization. This flaw, located in the aaedge.dll library within the CTsgMsgServer::GetCTsgMsgServerInstance function, allows multiple threads to overwrite a global pointer, leading to potential arbitrary code execution. The vulnerability affects multiple versions of Windows Server, including 2016, 2019, 2022, and 2025. Microsoft released security updates in May 2025 to address the issue, implementing mutex-based synchronization. The updates are KB5050011 for Windows Server 2016, KB5050008 for Windows Server 2019, KB5049983 for Windows Server 2022, and KB5050009 for Windows Server 2025. Security experts recommend applying these patches promptly and monitoring RD Gateway logs for unusual activity.

Windows 10 users are facing issues due to the mandatory KB5058379 update, which has caused some PCs to boot into Windows Recovery mode and prompted the need for a BitLocker key. Some users have also experienced a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD). The update primarily affects devices with Intel Trusted Execution Technology (TXT) using 10th generation or later Intel vPro processors, particularly on Windows 10 versions 22H2 and Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2021. Microsoft is working on a resolution and plans to release an Out-of-band update soon. Affected users are advised to disable Intel TXT in the BIOS to complete the update successfully and avoid further issues. Windows 11 is not impacted by this problem.

DOOM: The Dark Ages, a prequel to DOOM (2016) and DOOM Eternal, is set to release on May 15. In Russia, the game will not be available for official purchase, with prices ranging from 6,000 to 10,000 rubles, leading some to consider waiting for pirated versions. The game uses Denuvo DRM, complicating hacking efforts. Historical data shows that hacking timelines for Denuvo-protected games vary, making it difficult to predict when DOOM: The Dark Ages will appear on torrent sites. Factors influencing hacking speed include the game's popularity, the complexity of Denuvo, technical features of the game, hacker activity, and potential updates. Three scenarios for when the game might be hacked are: optimistic (7–14 days post-release), realistic (1-3 months), and pessimistic (6–12 months). The realistic scenario is deemed most likely due to the game's popularity.

The Windows team at Microsoft has discovered a significant bug affecting the Canary build, which has led to the delay of several Insider builds. This bug impacts essential functionalities such as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, USB accessory connections, and the onboard camera for Windows Hello. Brandon LeBlanc from the Windows Insider program described the bug as "really bad" and noted that it arose from a specific code change in newer builds not yet released to Insiders. Microsoft is currently working on a fix and hopes to deliver a new build to the Canary channel by the end of the week. The situation emphasizes the company's focus on quality control to prevent flawed releases from reaching users.
