Chaos Cubed drop is now available for Minecraft on Nintendo Switch

The Chaos Cubed game update has launched on the Nintendo Switch, introducing new features such as the sulfur cube, sulfur caves, and various blocks. The sulfur cube is a passive mob found in sulfur caves that can absorb blocks to gain unique effects. Players can leash or scoop them up, or use bouncy wool blocks to launch them. On the Overworld surface, sulfur springs and geysers indicate the presence of sulfur caves, with springs emitting toxic gases that cause nausea. Potent sulfur generates bubbles and gas puffs when placed under water and can create geysers when combined with magma blocks. The update also includes a new music disc called Bounce, which can be found in chests within mineshafts that connect to the sulfur caves.

Minecraft Officially Launches The Chaos Cubed Content Drop

Minecraft has introduced an expansion called Chaos Cubed, featuring a new sulfur cave biome with sulfur springs and survival challenges. Minecraft 26.2 Chaos Cubed Drops Tomorrow: Hardcore Exploit Closed, Vulkan Renderer Ships

Minecraft Java Edition 26.2, titled Chaos Cubed, will be released on June 16, 2026, featuring a new underground biome called sulfur caves, a unique mob named sulfur cube, and an experimental Vulkan graphics renderer. The sulfur caves introduce pale-yellow sulfur blocks and deep-red cinnabar, along with geysers that erupt every 50 seconds and sulfur spikes that can inflict damage. The sulfur cube is a passive mob that absorbs blocks, altering its behavior, and can transform into a mobile explosive when it absorbs TNT. The Vulkan renderer allows players to switch between OpenGL and Vulkan for improved performance, utilizing multiple CPU cores. A friends list feature will be added, enabling players to send friend requests and check online statuses, but peer-to-peer world hosting will not be included. Hardcore mode will now enforce permadeath by disabling certain options in the Open to LAN menu. The update also includes six new music tracks and the /unpublish command.

‘Minecraft’ pop-up event coming to Alton Towers this summer

Merlin Entertainments is enhancing its partnership with Minecraft by launching the 'Minecraft Meet the Mobs' pop-up experience at Alton Towers from July 18 to August 28. This event allows guests to interact with baby mobs in six Minecraft-themed scenes and includes activities like a mob trail for exclusive in-game rewards. Guests can also take photos with characters such as Iron Golem and Creeper, and enjoy themed snacks and merchandise. The experience is included with standard park admission. Minecraft is the best-selling video game of all time, with over 350 million copies sold, and is set to become the first-ever theme park land at Chessington World of Adventures in a £50 million project opening in 2027. Merlin's collaboration with Mojang Studios was announced in 2024, with plans to invest over £85 million in new attractions in the UK and US.

Minecraft 26.2 Snapshot 5 Adds Sulfur Cube Explosive Archetype, Geysers and More

In Minecraft 26.2 Snapshot 5, Mojang introduced explosive Sulfur Cubes that can absorb TNT blocks, transforming into volatile entities. When ignited by fire or Redstone, they have a 6-second fuse, while explosions can trigger a random fuse time of 0.75 to 3 seconds. Once primed, they are immune to damage, and the TNT block cannot be harvested with shears. Additionally, Potent Sulfur blocks can interact with water and magma to produce geysers that launch water particles and nearby entities into the air. Hoglins have been reclassified as hostile and will no longer spawn in Peaceful mode. New sound effects accompany the geysers and Sulfur Spikes. To create an Explosive Sulfur Cube, a Sulfur Cube must absorb a TNT block, and geysers are produced when a Potent Sulfur block is placed above a Magma block or submerged under 1-4 water source blocks within a Sulfur Pool.

Minecraft 26.2 Snapshot 5

The 26.2 Snapshot 5 introduces several new features, including an explosive archetype for the Sulfur Cube and the addition of erupting Geysers formed by Potent Sulfur. The new Sulfur Cube archetype, called Explosive, shares properties with the Regular archetype but has higher air drag and can absorb TNT blocks. When primed, absorbed TNT has a fuse time of 6 seconds when ignited by fire or Redstone, and a randomized fuse time between 0.75 and 3 seconds when primed by an explosion. Sulfur Cubes with absorbed TNT cannot be picked up or damaged, and no Small Sulfur Cubes will spawn upon explosion. Potent Sulfur creates Geysers when placed above a Magma block and under water, sending water particles skyward at random intervals. Various adjustments have been made to mob hitboxes, and Hoglins are now classified as hostile and will not spawn on Peaceful difficulty. New sounds for Geyser eruptions have been added, and Touchscreen Mode has been removed. The Data Pack version is now 104.0, and the Resource Pack version is 86.2. New particles related to Geysers have been introduced, and several bugs have been fixed in this update.
